TIPS ON PICKING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot refund the amount of time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be judged from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not feature real life samples chances are they will never be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s goal is to mirror your unique vision for your company. If a designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Lynn LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping small business owners grow memorable brands. We have done logo design work for farmers, universities, diamond miners, wedding singers, coffee shops, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business you can envision. What makes ImageCo different compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every branding project as if it will be employed as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our logo designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method guarantees that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in television commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered no matter of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that really sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you may have stumbled upon online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are brought on board to do, we do ourselves. No matter the kind of project we undertake, logo design, website design, trade show display, or retail sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our customer’s projects to 3rd parties based outside the US. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the price of your design project and imposes the conditions of how you and I conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Lynn organization realizes that they require a logo, but few start-ups thoroughly grasp the pivotal role their business logo will play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo functions far better than another. A logo design has a critical and long term impact on the growth of a company, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Lynn businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require contemplation, they can be understood in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to store signs a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark and the process of noting something to make sure that it can be recognized, its foundation originates from the mark branded onto livestock. Today a brand represents basically anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be revenue or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are both from the very same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition aimed at a target audience, it’s objective is to create an image that the audience will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When a person says the brand names Lamborghini or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals want those products. Brand image is why people acquire most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the origin of the majority of branding companies you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded advertising firms. When someone states they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have an idea about what they do. But when somebody says “I’m in branding”… it just seems much more attractive, maybe it’s because most individuals don’t understand what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and kind of sexy.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that describes the visual aspects of a product or agency that influence perceptions. This mostly consists of the name, the logo design, the packaging, the different colors used but can likewise consist of sound, illumination, texture, signs, just about anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design which helps shape the perception of a business, a product or a business. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and collateral products such as business cards, stationery, as well as brochures. Some visual designers also develop web sites and also user interfaces. The crucial function of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and an emotional tone with the goal of influencing actions, end results and understandings.

select logos & signs

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Lynn coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening up in an old part of town and wanted to cast an old-fashioned tone without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished the two tasks by means of designing a symbol design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as bacteria designed for Lynn medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which researches the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of medicine which deals with the laboratory assessment of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more interesting, more focus grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping green frog created for a household fun facility in Lynn.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Lynn travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather reveal emotional experiences through the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they often share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Lynn logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Lynn logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his aversion for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get objective assessments on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design realize how essential a logo is for their business so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job has it’s allotment of challenges, however the greatest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Lynn book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most vital part of a printed book considering that it is often the initial thing a person sees in the book store. For a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will ever get to publicize their label and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the aspects folks often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a good sense of air travel and it was definitely a winner.

Lynn logo design used for advertising as well as a label layout for Vintage Instance features an old-fashioned typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be vintage cases. For this brand concept I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Lynn, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo projects because it seems that almost every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to explain exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout produced for a Lynn hair design studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design which carried a spirit of simplicity and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious path of making merely a stylized orchid but rather created a business logo which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is more often than not the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the attention on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian equine logo design developed for an equine cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a unique logo concept customized to exemplify the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having a different head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most easily identifiable equine types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Lynn restaurant logo style a small restaurant, layout includes a changed manuscript font style which floats above a team of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a little dining establishment, style contains a modified script font which floats over a group of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software developer the design attributes as well as iconic Lynn component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the significance supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

Evolve logo layout created for a Lynninterior developer, layout function a collection of red circles that intersect and change the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Lynn interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who arranges, explores, collaborates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a diverse profession that consists of conceptual development, space planning, site assessments, programming, research study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Lynn, the characters for letter V and A in middle of the word progressed have actually been modified to connect directly into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Lynn logo design assignment was undertaken for a management specialist that helps business professionals to become more effective at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A Lynn business logo style featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell off their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Lynn business logo design utilizing a graphic which grabs the interest of traffic and projects an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Lynn company logo style has actually an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t actually created for an Lynn regional farm it was actually created for an investments broker, and this particular trademark was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to produce a graphic that projects self-assurance, success, and affluence.

Lynn Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style function for externally facing arrowhead and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without recognizing where the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo design made for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is similar to a famous Lynn sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
