TIPS ON SELECTING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design company offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can not refund the amount of time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but in the end a design agency can only be evaluated from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not contain real world examples odds are they won’t be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s goal is to mirror your personal vision for your business. If a designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Malden LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds grow memorable brand identities. We’ve performed branding work for ranchers, universities, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee roasters, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can think of. What makes us unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every design as though it will be employed as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first method our designs can, and have been used in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach ensures that our logos are equally reliable whether they are used in television commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered no matter of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you may have stumbled upon online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are contracted to perform, we do in-house. No matter the kind of project we accept, logo, website, trade show exhibition, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job-out our client’s projects to contractors based outside the US. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the cost of your project and imposes the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Malden organization realizes that they need a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly comprehend the pivotal role their company logo will perform in their becoming successful, or why one logo design performs far better than another. A logo design has an immediate and sustaining effect on the success of a company, select the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Malden companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require consideration, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to store signs a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the process of marking something to make sure that it can be recognized, its origin comes from the mark branded onto animals. Today a brand indicates basically anything with a motive, regardless if it be profit or politics, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive sister, they are all from the same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition aimed at a target market, it’s goal is to produce an image that the target market can relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When a person says the names Ferrari or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people want those brands. Brand image is why people purchase specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the origin of a lot of branding firms you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded marketing and advertising agencies. When somebody states they are in advertising the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. But when someone states “I’m in branding”… it simply seems more impressive, maybe it’s due to the fact that the majority of people don’t know what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and sexy.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that defines the visual aspects of a product or agency that affect perceptions. This largely includes the name, the logo, the product packaging, the different colors used however can additionally consist of audio, illumination, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or listened to are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps form the image of a company, a product or a company. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and pamphlets. Some visual designers also design web sites as well as user interfaces. The important function of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of affecting activities, outcomes and also understandings.

select signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bicycle developed for a Malden coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and bistro were actually launching in an old section of the community and hoped to project a nostalgic feel without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by means of developing a symbol design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and bacteria made for Malden medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare that works with the clinical evaluation of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping green frog created for a household fun facility in Malden.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental practices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - made for Malden traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather reveal emotional journeys through the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Malden logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Malden logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his aversion for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial opinions on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo design realize how essential a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo design project has it’s share of obstacles, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Malden book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, however it is the most essential part of a published book considering that it is ordinarily the very first thing a person sees in the bookstore. For a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it looks like that in many instances one of the things folks tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a sense of flight and it was surely a victory.

Malden logo style utilized for marketing and also a label layout for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this custom logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Malden, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it seems that every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo includes 4 personalities surprised in height to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to describe specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout created for a Malden hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo that projected an atmosphere of ease and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design that did not go the obvious path of crafting simply a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo design that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is oftentimes the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the attention on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design produced for a horse ranch that specializes in breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a one-of-a-kind organization logo concept styled to display the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. By having a distinctive head form and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily recognizable horse breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Malden restaurant logo style a small dining establishment, layout includes a customized script font style which floats over a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a small restaurant, design consists of a changed manuscript font style which floats over a group of ornate lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software program designer the style functions and also iconic Malden aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

Progress logo layout developed for a Maldeninterior developer, style function a series of red circles that intersect as well as replace the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Malden interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who organizes, investigates, coordinates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location examinations, programming, analysis, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Malden, the personalities for letter V and A in center of the word advanced have actually been changed to tie directly into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Malden logo design assignment was done for a leadership expert that aids business leaders to develop into more effective at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Malden business logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a location to market their used goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Malden logo design design using an image that garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Malden company logo design has a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really designed for an Malden area farm it was actually created for an investments broker, and this particular logo was one of many that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to produce a graphic that projects assurance, effectiveness, and affluence.

Malden Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout attribute for outwardly encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo design created for using an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is evocative a famous Malden sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked directly with the owner to develop a business logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
