Marlborough, Massachusetts Logo Design

Each and every new Marlborough organization understands that they require a logo, yet few new business owners entirely grasp the crucial role their logo will play in their becoming successful, or why one business logo works better than another. A company logo has an instant and long-term impact on the financial success of a company, select the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Marlborough, Massachusetts businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Marlborough, Massachusetts coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were launching in an older part of the city and wanted to project an old-fashioned vibe without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs by developing a logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and germs developed for Marlborough, Massachusetts clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine which works with the clinical examination of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more appealing, more interest grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable center in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - made for Marlborough, Massachusetts travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead communicate emotional journeys through the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they oftentimes share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Marlborough logo but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Marlborough logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased viewpoints on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo recognize how essential a logo design is for their organization so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo job possesses it’s share of difficulties, but the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Marlborough, Massachusetts book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, yet it is the most crucial part of a printed book due to the fact that it is often the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever get to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart but it seems that in many instances one of the aspects individuals often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to confering a good sense of air travel and it was surely a victory.

Marlborough logo design used for advertising and marketing and also a label design for Vintage Situation includes an antiquated font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be vintage cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Marlborough, Massachusetts, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs because it appears that every single dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually enjoy doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities startled in elevation to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo which conveyed an atmosphere of contentment and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious course of crafting just a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is generally the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the emphasis on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design produced for an equine cattle ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a one-of-a-kind company logo design tailored to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With a distinctive head shape and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most immediately identifiable equine types in the whole world.

Logo design for a software program programmer the design functions as well as famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

A logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to market their used goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Marlborough logo design dsign utilizing an illustration which grabs the attention of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo style has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t actually produced for an Marlborough, Massachusetts area farm it was in reality created for an investments broker, and this logo was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to produce an identity that projects self-assurance, success, and prosperity.

Marlborough Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo style feature for ostensibly encountering arrow and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the liberty to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the first go.

Logo created for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is evocative a renowned sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked directly with the owner to produce a logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
