TIPS ON CHOOSING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design company presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot reimburse the time you commit which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be evaluated from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t feature real life samples chances are they will not be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s goal is to echo your personal vision for your business. If a logo designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Melrose LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds establish notable brand identities. We’ve done brand identity design work for ranchers, universities, diamond miners, party planners, coffee roasters, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes ImageCo unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every brand identity project as though it will be used as an electric sign. Because of our sign first method our brand identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach guarantees that our logo designs are equally effective whether they are used in television commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered irrespective of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which truly sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you may have stumbled upon on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are retained to do, we perform in-house. No matter the kind of project we accept, business logo, web site, trade show booth, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s work to 3rd parties based outside the United States. Whenever you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the price of your project and imposes the terms of how you and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Melrose organization knows they need a logo, however few new business owners fully grasp the key role their business logo can perform in their financial success, or exactly why one logo design works more effectively than another. A company logo has an immediate and long term effect on the success of a company, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Melrose companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to posters a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the process of noting something so that it can be distinguished, its genesis originates from the mark branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand represents pretty much anything with an objective, regardless if it be earnings or government agencies, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the value of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are each from the very same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition directed at a target audience, it’s goal is to develop a mental image that the target market will relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and identity design. When a person states the brand names Porsche or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals buy those products. Brand image is why individuals buy specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the origin of a lot of branding companies you’ll find that they are frequently rebranded marketing and advertising firms. When somebody states they are in marketing the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design that helps form the public image of a firm, a product or a business. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and also brochures. Some visual designers also build websites and also user interfaces. The essential role of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and a psychological tone with the goal of affecting actions, outcomes and also assumptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Melrose coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening up in an old section of the town and really wanted to visualize a retro atmosphere without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both of these tasks by means of designing a logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria created for Melrose medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that works with the laboratory assessment of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping green frog created for a family members fun facility in Melrose.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - created for Melrose traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they often tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Melrose logo design but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Melrose logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to share it with colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get neutral judgements on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their business logo recognize how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo job possesses it’s share of hurdles, but the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Melrose publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most important part of a printed book since it is often the primary thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will ever have to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it looks like that in many cases one of the items people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a good sense of air travel and it was surely a winner.

Melrose logo style utilized for marketing as well as a tag style for Vintage Situation features an antiquated font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this brand concept I attempted to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Melrose, layout include an arc with lines converging through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging logo projects considering that it appears that almost every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really love doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family members nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities surprised in elevation to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to summarize exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style created for a Melrose hair layout studio including a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that related an atmosphere of serenity and class for their new hair salon. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious course of creating simply a stylized orchid but instead delivered a company logo which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is oftentimes the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the emphasis on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian steed logo layout produced for an equine cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created an original brand concept styled to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. By having an unique head shape and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most easily recognizable horse lineages in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Melrose restaurant logo style a tiny dining establishment, layout contains a changed manuscript font which hovers above a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a little restaurant, layout consists of a modified script typeface which hovers above a team of elaborate lines and dots.

Logo design for a software program designer the layout features as well as legendary Melrose element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance behind a logo design is just as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

Develop logo style produced for a Melroseinterior designer, layout feature a collection of red circles that converge as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Melrose interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who arranges, researches, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location assessments, programming, analysis, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Melrose, the personalities for letter V and A in middle of the word progressed have been modified to connect directly right into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Melrose logo design assignment was done for a management guide that assists business professionals to develop into more effective at managing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Melrose business logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to sell off their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Melrose logo design utilizing a graphic which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Melrose company logo design has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo concept wasn’t really developed for an Melrose regional farm it was in reality created for a commodities broker, and this particular logo was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to generate an identity that projects assurance, success, and wealth.

Melrose Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout feature for ostensibly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo design made for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is reminiscent of a famous Melrose sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to create a business logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
