New Bedford Logo Design

Virtually every new New Bedford venture knows they are in need of a logo, however few entrepreneurs entirely grasp the vital role their business logo can make in their success, or why one logo design performs far better than another. A company logo has an instant and long-term influence on the growth of a business, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help New Bedford businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand consideration, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will stay legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

Retro logo design of a bike created for a New Bedford coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening up in an older part of the town and really wanted to cast a nostalgic vibe without appearing as boring or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks via developing a trademark concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and germs created for New Bedford clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which works with the laboratory examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I remember in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Normally I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and much more memorable.

logo style with a jumping green frog created for a household enjoyable facility in New Bedford.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for New Bedford travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather project emotional experiences through the images they record. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  New Bedford logo but also to reveal the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

New Bedford logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his aversion for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced point of views on the value of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design recognize how essential a logo is for their company so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of challenges, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for New Bedford book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most necessary part of a published book because it is often the very first thing a person views in the bookstore. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever get to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it looks like that in many occurrences one of the aspects people tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a good sense of airline flight and it was certainly a victory.

New Bedford logo layout made use of for marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Case features an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be vintage cases. For this business logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in New Bedford, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs considering that it appears that each and every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really love doing dentistry business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to summarize specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo which communicated a feeling of contentment and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious course of making just a stylized orchid but instead crafted a business logo that suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is oftentimes the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the importance on the feeling that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Logo design for a software program developer the layout attributes and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive management. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a logo is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a place to market their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their New Bedford business logo dsign using a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo style has an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t really created for an New Bedford area farm it was in reality developed for an investments broker, and this company logo was one of a handful of that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to make a brand mark that projects confidence, effectiveness, and prosperity.
Logo design made for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is similar to a popular sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to create a logo design which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
