Reading Logo Design

Virtually every new Reading venture realizes that they need a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully grasp the pivotal role their logo design will make in their becoming successful, or exactly why one business logo functions more effectively than another. A company logo has an instant and lasting effect on the growth of a business, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Reading companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require deliberation, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Reading coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening up in an older part of the community and wanted to project a nostalgic feel without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks via developing a custom logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and also bacteria made for Reading clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the clinical assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I remember in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping environment-friendly frog developed for a family members fun facility in Reading.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and a tree - created for Reading travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather communicate emotional journeys through the images they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they often tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Reading logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Reading logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial opinions on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their business logo understand how essential a logo is for their organization so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo job possesses it’s portion of obstacles, however the greatest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, style for Reading publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, however it really is the most vital part of a printed book considering that it is often the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. With regard to a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will ever get to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems that in many instances one of the traits people tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller new venture commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a feeling of airline flight and it was surely a victory.

Reading logo layout made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Situation includes an old-fashioned typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be much older cases. For this logo design I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Reading, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it seems that each and every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dental care logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family nonprofit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to describe exactly how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo design created for a hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo which related a spirit of ease and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious route of making simply a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a business logo which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is more often than not the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the main focus on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Las Cafe logo style a little dining establishment, layout includes a modified script typeface which floats over a team of ornate lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software program developer the style attributes as well as legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a business logo is just as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

Evolve logo layout created for a Reading indoor designer, style attribute a collection of red circles that converge as well as replace the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to market their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Reading logo dsign using a graphic which captures the interest of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo layout has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo concept wasn’t actually created for an Reading regional farm it was in reality designed for a commodities broker, and this business logo was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to produce a graphic that projected esteem, success, and prosperity.
Logo design created for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is evocative a famous sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a logo design that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
