Southbridge Logo Design

Nearly every new Southbridge venture understands that they need a logo, however few entrepreneurs entirely recognize the vital role their logo design will perform in their becoming successful, or precisely why one business logo performs more effectively than another. A logo design has an immediate and sustaining influence on the growth of a company, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Southbridge companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

Retro logo style of a bicycle developed for a Southbridge coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an old section of town and wished to cast an old-fashioned tone without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled both of these tasks via designing a custom logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and germs developed for Southbridge medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which works with the clinical assessment of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Usually I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more appealing, more interest grabbing and more meaningful.

logo design with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a family members fun facility in Southbridge.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design including a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - made for Southbridge travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead reveal emotional experiences through the images they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Southbridge logo but also to illustrate the depth to her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Southbridge logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the client, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased point of views on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their business logo comprehend how important a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo project has it’s portion of challenges, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Southbridge publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, however it really is the most critical part of a published book because it is often the very first thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will ever get to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems like that in many instances 1 of the aspects individuals often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a sense of air travel and it was undoubtedly a success.

Southbridge logo design made use of for advertising and a tag design for Vintage Situation features an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this logo design I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Southbridge, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care business logos can be one of the most challenging logo projects because it seems that virtually every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dentists do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to explain precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair style studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo which related a spirit of contentment and class for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious course of designing merely a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo design that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is more often than not the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the emphasis on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo style for a software program developer the layout functions and also iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it serves the business it represents.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Southbridge business logo dsign along with an image which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo layout has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo concept wasn’t actually developed for an Southbridge regional farm it was in reality designed for an investments broker, and this particular brand was one of a handful of that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to develop a image that projects confidence, financial success, and wealth.
Logo developed for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script typeface that is similar to a famous sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to create a logo design that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
