STRATEGIES FOR FINDING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can not refund the amount of time you commit which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be judged by the quality of their design work, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature real world examples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and remembered, and it’s goal is to echo your unique vision for your company. If a designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Worcester LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs establish notable brands. We have undertaken brand identity design work for ranchers, educational institutions, heart surgeons, party planners, restaurants, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes ImageCo different compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every design as though it will be utilized as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first approach our identity designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first method insures that our logos are just as successful whether they are used in TV commercials or web apps, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and remembered no matter of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

Something which really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you might possibly have found in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are hired to do, we do ourselves. Regardless of the type of project we undertake, brand identity design, website, trade show banners, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will contract out our client’s work to contractors based outside the United States. Whenever you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that increases the price of your design project and imposes the terms of how you and I do business.

ASPECTS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Worcester company knows they probably need a logo, but few start ups entirely comprehend the key role their logo will make in their becoming successful, or exactly why one business logo works more effectively than another. A company logo has an instant and lasting impact on the prosperity of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Worcester businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need contemplation, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the process of marking something to make sure that it can be distinguished, its genesis comes from the brand burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand indicates practically anything with a motive, whether it be profit or political parties, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the value of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s sexy cousin, they are both from the same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest aimed at a target audience, it’s goal is to create an image that the audience will likely connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody mentions the names Porsche or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why individuals acquire most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Firms – If you reflect on the origin of most branding agencies you’ll discover that they are often re-branded marketing companies. When someone claims they are in marketing lots of people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that focuses on a type of visual design that helps form the public image of a business, a product or a company. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and collateral products such as business cards, stationery, as well as sales brochures. Some identity designers also develop websites and user interfaces. The vital duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the objective of affecting activities, outcomes as well as assumptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo style of a bicycle created for a Worcester coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were launching in an older section of the area and hoped to project a vintage tone without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled the two jobs by designing a trademark concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also germs designed for Worcester clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which studies the root causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which works with the laboratory evaluation of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a family fun center in Worcester.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Worcester travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather convey emotional journeys by means of the photos they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with just words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Worcester logo design but also to illustrate the depth to her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Worcester logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I really relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however the client, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to share it with friends and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced assessments on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo design realize how crucial a logo is for their organization so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo design job possesses it’s share of difficulties, but the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Worcester publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most important part of a printed book given that it is ordinarily the initial thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever get to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the aspects people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young fledgling commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a feeling of flight and it was surely a victory.

Worcester logo layout used for marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Instance includes an old-fashioned font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be vintage cases. For this brand concept I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Worcester, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects because it seems that almost every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities surprised in elevation to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate precisely how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design created for a Worcester hair design studio featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design which projected a spirit of calmness and class for their new hair salon. I created a design that did not go the obvious path of designing merely a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a company logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is oftentimes the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the attention on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian equine logo layout produced for a steed ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a unique logo design styled to display the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With a different head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most easily identifiable horse lineages in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Worcester Coffee shop logo layout a little dining establishment, layout consists of a customized manuscript font style which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a small restaurant, layout consists of a changed script font which floats over a group of ornate lines and dots.

Logo layout for a software designer the design attributes as well as iconic Worcester element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a logo is equally as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

Advance logo style produced for a Worcesterinterior developer, design feature a collection of red circles that converge as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Worcester interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who arranges, explores, collaborates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a diverse profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, site examinations, programming, analysis, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Worcester, the personalities for letter V as well as A in center of the word advanced have actually been customized to tie straight right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Worcester logo design job was performed for a leadership specialist that assists business professionals to develop into more effective at managing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Worcester business logo design featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Worcester business logo design using a graphic that garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Worcester company logo design has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t really created for an Worcester area farm it was in reality developed for a products broker, and this particular creative logo was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to generate a graphic that projected self-assurance, financial success, and luxury.

Worcester Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design function for ostensibly facing arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first shot.

Logo design made for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is reminiscent of a popular Worcester sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked directly with the owner to design a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
