Berkley, Michigan Logo Design

Virtually every new Berkley company understands that they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs entirely grasp the crucial role their logo can perform in their becoming successful, or exactly why one business logo performs far better than another. A logo has an immediate and long-term effect on the financial success of a company, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of an organization.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Berkley, Michigan businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from labels to billboards a scalable logo design will stay legible and equally emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be lasting and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.
Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a Berkley, Michigan coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were launching in an old section of the area and hoped to visualize a nostalgic vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks via designing a business logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and germs created for Berkley, Michigan clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that examines the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine which deals with the clinical examination of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I remember in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more captivating, more focus grabbing and more memorable.

logo style with a jumping green frog made for a family enjoyable center in Berkley, Michigan.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Berkley, Michigan traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche area because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather reveal emotional experiences through the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something the same to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Berkley logo but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Berkley logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to share it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get objective viewpoints on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design realize how important a logo design is for their organization so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of difficulties, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, style for Berkley, Michigan publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most crucial part of a printed book because it is in most cases the primary thing a person sees in the bookstore. For a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems that in many cases one of the things individuals often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a feeling of airline flight and it was definitely a victory.

Berkley logo layout used for advertising as well as a label design for Vintage Situation features an archaic font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be much older cases. For this brand concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be used for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Berkley, Michigan, design include an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects because it appears that virtually every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters startled in elevation to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to explain how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo that communicated an atmosphere of simplicity and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design that didn’t go the obvious route of creating simply a stylized orchid but rather created a logo design which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is oftentimes the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Logo layout for a software program developer the layout features and also renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

A logo layout featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Berkley logo design dsign using a graphic which seizes the interest of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t really developed for an Berkley, Michigan area farm it was actually developed for a products broker, and this particular creative logo was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. Berkley Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for outwardly facing arrowhead and the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo design developed for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is reminiscent of a renowned sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to design a business logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
