TIPS ON CHOOSING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can’t reimburse the amount of time you invest which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be judged by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio does not contain actual examples chances are they will never be able to produce a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to reflect your unique vision for your company. If a designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Dearborn LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs cultivate notable brand identities. We have performed brand design work for mechanics, educational institutions, heart surgeons, party planners, diners, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes us different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as though it will be utilized as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first technique our designs can, and have been used in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first technique insures that our logo designs are just as reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered irrespective of size or use.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you probably have found on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are enlisted to perform, we do in-house. Irrespective of the type of project we take on, logo design, website, trade show booth, or electric sign, we do not, and never will job out our customer’s projects to organizations located outside the United States. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the price of your design project and determines the conditions of how you and I conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Dearborn business realizes that they probably need a logo, yet few start ups fully comprehend the essential role their organization’s logo can perform in their becoming successful, or the reason that one business logo works better than another. A logo design has an immediate and long-term influence on the prosperity of a company, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Dearborn companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require consideration, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to posters a scalable logo will remain legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s both a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the act of noting something to make sure that it can be distinguished, its origin originates from the brand branded onto animals. Nowadays a brand indicates practically anything with an objective, regardless if it be revenue or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive sister, they are each from the same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition targeted at a target audience, it’s goal is to create a mental image that the audience will connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone mentions the brand names Lamborghini or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals purchase those products. Brand image is why individuals purchase most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the history of most branding agencies you’ll discover that they are often re-branded advertising and marketing companies. When a person claims they are in advertising and marketing the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that concentrates on a type of visual design that helps form the public image of a business, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, as well as sales brochures. Some visual designers also develop websites and user interfaces. The important role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the goal of affecting actions, outcomes and perceptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo style of a bicycle created for a Dearborn coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening in an old part of the area and wished to project a retro atmosphere without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by developing a trademark design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and germs developed for Dearborn medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that works with the clinical evaluation of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more appealing, more interest grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping green frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in Dearborn.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - made for Dearborn traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead convey emotional journeys by means of the images they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with just words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Dearborn logo but also to show the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Dearborn logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his aversion for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased point of views on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their organization so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo design project possesses it’s share of hurdles, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for Dearborn publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most necessary part of a printed book because it is in most cases the initial thing a person views in the bookstore. With regard to a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever have to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart yet it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the items people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a spirit of flight and it was definitely a victory.

Dearborn logo style utilized for advertising and also a label style for Vintage Case features an old-fashioned font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that looked to be older cases. For this brand concept I tried to come up with a logo that offered a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Dearborn, layout include an arc with lines converging with it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that virtually every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental practices do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a Dearborn hair layout studio featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo which conveyed a spirit of tranquility and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious route of crafting just a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a business logo that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is usually the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian horse logo design created for a steed cattle ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a one-of-a-kind company logo design tailored to exemplify the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. With a distinctive head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most easily recognizable equine lineages in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Dearborn Coffee shop logo design a tiny dining establishment, design contains a customized script font which hovers above a team of ornate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a tiny dining establishment, style includes a modified manuscript font style which floats over a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo design for a software application programmer the design features as well as iconic Dearborn aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive managing. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

Develop logo design created for a Dearborninterior developer, style feature a series of red circles that intersect as well as change the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Dearborn interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who plans, explores, coordinates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a diverse occupation that involves conceptual development, space planning, site examinations, programming, research study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Dearborn, the characters for letter V and A in center of words progressed have been changed to link straight into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Dearborn logo design project was done for a leadership guide that helps business professionals to develop into more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Dearborn business logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Dearborn logo design design along with an image that garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Dearborn company logo layout has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t really designed for an Dearborn regional farm it was in reality developed for a products broker, and this logo design was one of many that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to generate an identity that projects trust, effectiveness, and opulence.

Dearborn Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo design feature for outwardly encountering arrowhead and the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the flexibility to discover any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Luckily, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo made for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is similar to a renowned Dearborn sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked closely with the business owner to develop a business logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
