Flint, Michigan Logo Design

Every new Flint organization realizes that they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully understand the vital role their logo can make in their financial success, or precisely why one logo design works better than another. A logo has an instant and long term effect on the viability of a company, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Flint, Michigan companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from labels to posters a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be lasting and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.
Retro logo style of a bicycle developed for a Flint, Michigan coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were actually launching in an older section of the community and wanted to visualize a retro atmosphere without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks by means of creating a logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria created for Flint, Michigan medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the clinical evaluation of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more interesting, more focus grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog made for a household fun facility in Flint, Michigan.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dentists, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - made for Flint, Michigan traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather reveal emotional experiences through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Flint logo but also to illustrate the depth of her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Flint logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I really take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however my customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get impartial opinions on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo design realize how important a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo design job has it’s share of hurdles, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Flint, Michigan publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most important part of a published book since it is usually the initial thing a person views in the book store. Concerning a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will likely ever have to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems like that in many instances 1 of the aspects individuals usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young new venture commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a sense of airline flight and it was definitely a winner.

Flint logo design used for marketing as well as a tag style for Vintage Situation includes an old font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this brand design I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Flint, Michigan, design include an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects because it appears that every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I actually love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a household nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair style workshop including a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo which related a sense of calmness and class for their new hair studio. I created a design that did not go the obvious route of designing simply a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is in most cases the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the importance on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their clients.

Logo layout for a software application designer the style attributes as well as iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it represents.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly realized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to sell their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Flint logo dsign using an image which garners the interest of vehicles and sends an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo style has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really composed for an Flint, Michigan area farm it was in reality developed for an investments broker, and this particular creative logo was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to design an identity that projected self-assurance, success, and affluence.

Flint Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for externally encountering arrow and the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the flexibility to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo design made for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script typeface that is similar to a renowned sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created quite a lot of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project in which I worked directly with the owner to develop a business logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
