Grandville, Michigan Logo Design

Virtually every new Grandville business person knows they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners entirely recognize the vital role their business logo can perform in their success, or the reason that one logo works better than another. A logo design has an instant and sustaining effect on the growth of a business, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of an organization.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Grandville, Michigan companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to movie screens a scalable logo design will be legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be lasting and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.
Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a Grandville, Michigan coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were launching in an old section of town and wished to project a vintage feel without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled each of the jobs via developing a trademark concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria designed for Grandville, Michigan medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that deals with the clinical examination of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the sole instance I remember where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Typically I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog developed for a family members fun facility in Grandville, Michigan.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - made for Grandville, Michigan travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys by means of the photos they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Grandville logo but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Grandville logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced assessments on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo design comprehend how important a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo job has it’s share of challenges, but the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Grandville, Michigan publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, but it really is the most necessary part of a printed book because it is ordinarily the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it seems like that in many cases 1 of the aspects people usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was certainly a success.

Grandville logo design made use of for marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Situation includes an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for music instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Grandville, Michigan, design include an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects considering that it seems that every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household nonprofit, the logo features 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo style developed for a hair style workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design that conveyed an atmosphere of contentment and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious direction of designing merely a stylized orchid but instead designed a business logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is usually the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the focus on the emotion that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Logo design for a software program developer the design functions as well as renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the owner of the business and in many cases the significance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it brands the business it represents.

A logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Grandville logo dsign along with an image which captures the interest of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo style has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t actually developed for an Grandville, Michigan regional farm it was actually devised for a products broker, and this creative logo was one of several which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce an identity that projected trust, effectiveness, and luxury.

Grandville Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for ostensibly dealing with arrow and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the freedom to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where the target is. Fortunately, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the first go.

Logo designed for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is evocative a renowned sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the business owner to produce a logo design which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
