Grosse Pointe Woods Logo Design

Each and every new Grosse Pointe Woods venture understands that they require a logo, however few entrepreneurs entirely realize the key role their business logo will make in their becoming successful, or exactly why one business logo works far better than another. A company logo has a critical and long term effect on the success of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Grosse Pointe Woods businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand contemplation, they can be understood in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bike developed for a Grosse Pointe Woods coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were actually launching in an old section of the town and wanted to project a retro atmosphere without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks by means of developing a sign design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria created for Grosse Pointe Woods clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that investigates the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which works with the laboratory assessment of samplings of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I recollect where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a household enjoyable facility in Grosse Pointe Woods.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - created for Grosse Pointe Woods travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather project emotional journeys through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they often share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Grosse Pointe Woods logo but also to show the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Grosse Pointe Woods logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get objective assessments on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo design understand how important a logo is for their company so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo design job has it’s portion of challenges, but the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Grosse Pointe Woods publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin parcel of real estate to work with, but it really is the most important part of a published book considering that it is usually the first thing a person sees in the book shop. Concerning a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it looks like that in many cases 1 of the items people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of flight and it was surely a success.

Grosse Pointe Woods logo design used for advertising as well as a label design for Vintage Situation features an old font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be antique cases. For this brand concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different era.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Grosse Pointe Woods, design consist of an arc with lines converging via it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs because it appears that almost every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family nonprofit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair style studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which carried a spirit of peace and class for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious course of designing merely a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a company logo which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is generally the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the main focus on the emotion that they really wanted to project to their customers.

Logo design for a software application designer the design attributes as well as legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

A logo style including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Grosse Pointe Woods logo dsign using an illustration which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo layout has actually an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t actually produced for an Grosse Pointe Woods regional farm it was actually developed for a commodities broker, and this logo design was one of a handful of that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was to produce an identity that projects trust, effectiveness, and wealth.
Logo design created for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a famous sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked directly with the owner to develop a logo design that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
