Kalamazoo Logo Design

Every new Kalamazoo business knows they require a logo, but few entrepreneurs thoroughly comprehend the crucial role their business logo will take in their success, or why one logo design works more effectively than another. A logo design has an instant and lasting influence on the financial success of a company, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Kalamazoo businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Retro logo style of a bike created for a Kalamazoo coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening in an older part of town and really wanted to project a retro vibe without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks via developing a symbol design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and bacteria developed for Kalamazoo clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that examines the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that works with the clinical evaluation of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I recollect in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents very literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more captivating, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog created for a family enjoyable center in Kalamazoo.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a more enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Kalamazoo traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather reveal emotional journeys by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Kalamazoo logo design but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Kalamazoo logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design jobs that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his scorn for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial judgements on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire a professional to design their logo understand how essential a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo job has it’s portion of challenges, however the greatest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Kalamazoo publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most necessary part of a printed book due to the fact that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever get to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems like that in many cases one of the aspects consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a good sense of flight and it was surely a winner.

Kalamazoo logo style utilized for advertising and also a tag style for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Kalamazoo, style consist of an arc with lines converging via it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo design jobs considering that it seems that almost every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dentists do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members nonprofit, the logo design features 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to summarize precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style produced for a hair style workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo that related a spirit of serenity and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious path of designing just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a logo design which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is oftentimes the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the focus on the emotion that they wanted to project to their clients.

Logo style for a software designer the layout attributes and iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

Develop logo style created for a Kalamazoo interior developer, style attribute a series of red circles that converge as well as change the letter O in the center of the logo style.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a spot to sell off their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Kalamazoo logo design dsign using a graphic that garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo layout has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t actually designed for an Kalamazoo regional farm it was actually designed for a products broker, and this particular logo was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to create a brand mark that projected trust, effectiveness, and affluence.
Logo design designed for the use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font style that is similar to a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project in which I worked closely with the proprietor to create a business logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
