Marquette Logo Design

Every new Marquette company knows they need a logo, yet few entrepreneurs entirely realize the essential role their logo can perform in their success, or why one logo functions more effectively than another. A business logo has a critical and sustaining impact on the financial success of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Marquette companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand scrutiny, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the organization they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Retro logo design of a bicycle produced for a Marquette coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening in an older section of the community and wished to project an old-fashioned tone without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I achieved both tasks by means of creating a custom logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and also bacteria created for Marquette medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine which works with the clinical assessment of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more captivating, more interest grabbing and more meaningful.

logo design with a leaping green frog developed for a household fun facility in Marquette.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Marquette traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but rather convey emotional journeys by means of the photos they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they often tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Marquette logo design but also to illustrate the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Marquette logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design jobs that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his hatred for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the merit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo design understand how important a logo is for their business so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo design job has it’s share of challenges, but the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, style for Marquette publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it really is the most crucial part of a published book because it is ordinarily the initial thing a person views in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the opportunity they will ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems that in many instances 1 of the aspects folks usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a spirit of airline flight and it was definitely a victory.

Marquette logo layout made use of for advertising and a label design for Vintage Case features an archaic typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this custom logo design I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Marquette, layout include an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that almost every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to describe precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design produced for a hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design that communicated a spirit of calmness and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious direction of designing merely a stylized orchid but alternatively created a logo which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is oftentimes the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the attention on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software application developer the style functions as well as famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a logo design is just as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

A logo layout including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to market their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Marquette logo design dsign with an illustration that pulls in the attention of traffic and sends an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo layout has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t actually composed for an Marquette area farm it was really created for an investments broker, and this particular trademark was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was to generate a graphic that projected assurance, effectiveness, and wealth.
Logo created for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font style that is evocative a famous sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked directly with the business owner to create a business logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
