STRATEGIES FOR PICKING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot refund the time you commit which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but inevitably a design firm can only be evaluated by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio does not contain actual samples odds are they will never be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s purpose is to mirror your unique vision for your business. If a designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Midland LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs cultivate unforgettable brands. We have done brand design work for builders, educational institutions, diamond miners, wedding singers, bistros, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes ImageCo unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as if it will be utilized as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our logo designs can, and have been utilized in everything from garment labels to electrical signs. Our sign first approach guarantees that our logos are just as successful whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered no matter of scale or function.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you might have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are contracted to do, we do in-house. Irrespective of the kind of design project we take on, brand identity design, website design, trade show exhibition, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s work to contractors located outside the United States. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the cost of your project and determines the terms of how my customers and I do business.

QUALITIES OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Midland company knows they require a logo, however few start-ups fully comprehend the pivotal role their logo design can play in their success, or why one logo design functions more effectively than another. A logo has a critical and sustaining influence on the viability of a business, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Midland businesses succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at every scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s both a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the act of denoting something to make sure that it can be identified, its genesis originates from the brand burned onto animals. Today a brand symbolizes practically anything with an intention, regardless if it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the worth of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s sexy cousin, they are each from the same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest targeted at a target audience, it’s objective is to develop an image that the target market can relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone states the brand names Porsche or Corvette what we think about is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why individuals get most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the beginning of a lot of branding companies you’ll discover that they are quite often re-branded marketing and advertising firms. When someone states they are in marketing the majority of people will likely have an idea about what they do. Yet when a person states “I am in branding”… it simply seems more impressive, probably it’s since most people do not know what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that describes the visual aspects of a product or agency that influence perceptions. This primarily consists of the name, the logo, the packaging, the different colors used but can additionally include sound, illumination, texture, signs, just about anything that can be seen, touched or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that focuses on a kind of visual design which helps form the image of a business, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral products such as cards, stationery, and also brochures. Some visual designers also develop web sites and software interfaces. The crucial function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and also an emotional tone with the goal of influencing actions, outcomes and understandings.

select signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Midland coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening in an old part of the community and wished to project a nostalgic tone without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs via designing a trademark design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs created for Midland clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that analyzes the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which works with the clinical examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I remember in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more interest grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping green frog made for a family fun center in Midland.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - created for Midland traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather project emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they often convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Midland logo design but also to reveal the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Midland logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I seriously relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial viewpoints on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their business logo comprehend how crucial a logo design is for their organization so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo design project has it’s allotment of hurdles, however the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Midland book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, but it really is the most critical part of a published book since it is ordinarily the initial thing a person sees in the book shop. With respect to a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever get to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it looks like that in many instances one of the things individuals tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a good sense of air travel and it was definitely a success.

Midland logo design made use of for advertising and a label style for Vintage Case features an old-fashioned typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be vintage cases. For this business logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Midland, design include an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can be one of the most difficult logo design projects considering that it seems that every single dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters surprised in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to summarize specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo style produced for a Midland hair layout workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo that projected a sense of peace and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious route of making just a stylized orchid but instead crafted a logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is in most cases the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the attention on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian horse logo design developed for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a one-of-a-kind logotype concept fashioned to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having an unique head form and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most immediately recognizable horse types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Midland restaurant logo layout a tiny dining establishment, layout consists of a modified manuscript font style which floats over a team of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a small dining establishment, design contains a changed manuscript font which floats above a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo style for a software programmer the design features as well as famous Midland component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a company logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it stands for.

Develop logo layout developed for a Midlandindoor designer, design attribute a collection of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Midland interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who plans, explores, collaborates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location examinations, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Midland, the characters for letter V and A in center of the word advanced have actually been modified to link straight right into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Midland logo design job was completed for a leadership consultant that helps business leaders to become more efficient at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A Midland business logo layout including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Midland business logo design with an image which pulls in the attention of vehicles and sends an image that invokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Midland company logo design has actually an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem design wasn’t actually produced for an Midland area farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this particular business logo was one of multiple which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to create an identity that projected trust, financial success, and luxury.

Midland Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo layout feature for outwardly dealing with arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo designed for making use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is reminiscent of a renowned Midland sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a business logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
