Novi Logo Design

Each and every new Novi business understands that they require a logo, however few new business owners thoroughly are aware of the pivotal role their organization logo will take in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo performs far better than another. A company logo has an immediate and long term impact on the prosperity of a company, choose the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Novi businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require contemplation, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and equally emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Novi coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening in an old part of the area and wanted to cast a retro tone without appearing as stodgy or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks by means of designing a sign design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and germs made for Novi clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that works with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recall where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Normally I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a family members fun center in Novi.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Novi travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they often convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Novi logo but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Novi logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I seriously take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family didn’t share his hatred for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced point of views on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo comprehend how crucial a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo project has it’s share of obstacles, but the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Novi book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, but it is the most crucial part of a published book given that it is often the primary thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever have to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems that in many cases one of the items folks tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a good sense of flight and it was definitely a winner.

Novi logo design used for advertising and a label layout for Vintage Case features an antiquated typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be vintage cases. For this brand design I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Novi, style include an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo jobs considering that it appears that each and every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to company advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually love doing dentist logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a household not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair style workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design that communicated a sense of relaxation and connection for their new hair studio. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious path of creating simply a stylized orchid but instead created a logo which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is frequently the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the main focus on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo layout for a software program developer the layout features as well as renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the significance supporting a logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

A logo design including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell off their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Novi logo design dsign utilizing an illustration that captures the attention of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo layout has an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t really developed for an Novi regional farm it was in reality created for a products broker, and this logo was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to make a graphic that projected trust, effectiveness, and affluence.
Logo developed for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a well-known sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to develop a logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
