Oak Park, Michigan Logo Design

Virtually every new Oak Park business realizes that they require a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly grasp the essential role their organization logo can play in their success, or exactly why one business logo works far better than another. A logo has a critical and long-term influence on the financial success of a company, select the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of a company.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Oak Park, Michigan companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be enduring and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a Oak Park, Michigan coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an older part of the area and wished to visualize a vintage tone without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved the two jobs by means of developing a logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and germs created for Oak Park, Michigan clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which analyzes the triggers and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that deals with the clinical assessment of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more captivating, more interest grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable center in Oak Park, Michigan.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - created for Oak Park, Michigan traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather convey emotional journeys by means of the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they oftentimes share whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Oak Park logo design but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Oak Park logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get honest viewpoints on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo design realize how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo design job has it’s portion of obstacles, but the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Oak Park, Michigan publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, however it is the most necessary part of a printed book since it is in most cases the very first thing a person sees in the book shop. With regard to a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it looks like that in many cases 1 of the aspects people usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of flight and it was definitely a victory.

Oak Park logo style utilized for marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Instance includes an archaic font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for musical instruments, which seemed to be much older cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Oak Park, Michigan, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo projects because it seems that every single dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dentists do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually enjoy doing dentistry logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to describe specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to consider a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo style developed for a hair design studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that communicated a spirit of calmness and class for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious route of creating merely a stylized orchid but rather designed a company logo which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is frequently the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the emphasis on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Logo design for a software program designer the style attributes and also renowned component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance behind a business logo is just as important as how it brands the business it represents.

A logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly knew the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a location to sell their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Oak Park business logo dsign utilizing a graphic that garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand concept wasn’t really designed for an Oak Park, Michigan area farm it was in reality devised for a commodities broker, and this particular business logo was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to generate a graphic that projected esteem, effectiveness, and opulence.

Oak Park Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo style function for ostensibly dealing with arrow and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they would like, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the freedom to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design created for the use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is similar to a well-known sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to produce a business logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
