Port Huron, Michigan Logo Design

Virtually every new Port Huron organization knows they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs entirely comprehend the vital role their logo design can perform in their becoming successful, or why one business logo works better than another. A business logo has a critical and long-term impact on the success of a company, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a business.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Port Huron, Michigan businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these 5 traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Port Huron, Michigan coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening up in an old part of the community and hoped to project a vintage vibe without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I fulfilled both of these tasks via designing a custom logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria designed for Port Huron, Michigan clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that deals with the clinical evaluation of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the sole instance I recall in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a household fun facility in Port Huron, Michigan.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Port Huron, Michigan travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather convey emotional experiences through the photos they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they oftentimes share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Port Huron logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Port Huron logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I truly relish and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however my client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family did not share his contempt for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial assessments on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their logo design comprehend how essential a logo is for their business so they are way more invested in the outcome. Every logo design project has it’s share of hurdles, but the largest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Port Huron, Michigan book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most crucial part of a printed book considering that it is often the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. For a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will likely ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems that in many instances 1 of the traits people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a good sense of air travel and it was certainly a success.

Port Huron logo layout made use of for advertising as well as a label style for Vintage Instance features an archaic font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be antique cases. For this business logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that had a fluid old style feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Port Huron, Michigan, layout include an arc with lines converging with it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design projects due to the fact that it seems that every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo style created for a hair layout studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo which related an atmosphere of ease and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious course of creating just a stylized orchid but instead created a business logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is frequently the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the focus on the perception that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian equine logo design created for a steed cattle ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo layout for a software application programmer the layout attributes as well as renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the symbolism behind a business logo is just as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

A logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to market their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Port Huron logo dsign using an illustration that garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo design has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really produced for an Port Huron, Michigan regional farm it was actually designed for a products broker, and this company logo was one of multiple which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to produce a brand mark that projects assurance, effectiveness, and wealth.

Port Huron Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style feature for ostensibly encountering arrow as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the opportunity to discover any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where the target is. Luckily, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the first try.

Logo created for making use of a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is similar to a well-known sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked directly with the proprietor to create a logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
