Saginaw, Michigan Logo Design

Every new Saginaw venture knows they need a logo, yet few new business owners thoroughly are aware of the vital role their company logo will make in their becoming successful, or exactly why one logo design performs more effectively than another. A logo has a critical and sustaining impact on the growth of a company, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Saginaw, Michigan businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand deliberation, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will stay legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Saginaw, Michigan coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening in an older part of the community and hoped to cast a retro atmosphere without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled both jobs by designing a business logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and germs made for Saginaw, Michigan medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which investigates the root causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory assessment of samples of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more appealing, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping green frog created for a household enjoyable facility in Saginaw, Michigan.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - developed for Saginaw, Michigan traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead project emotional journeys by means of the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they often convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Saginaw logo design but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Saginaw logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design projects that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to discuss it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get impartial point of views on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo design recognize how important a logo is for their organization so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo design project possesses it’s portion of challenges, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for Saginaw, Michigan book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, however it really is the most vital part of a published book due to the fact that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person sees in the book store. With regard to a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the items consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young startup commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a sense of flight and it was certainly a victory.

Saginaw logo layout utilized for marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Case includes an old font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be much older cases. For this logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Saginaw, Michigan, style include an arc with lines converging via it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that each and every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really really love doing dental business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities startled in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to summarize precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that explains itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo which related a feeling of peace and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious path of crafting just a stylized orchid but instead delivered a business logo that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is in most cases the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the importance on the perception that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Logo layout for a software application designer the style features and also legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the meaning behind a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

A logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a spot to sell their used equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Saginaw logo design dsign using an illustration which seizes the attention of traffic and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really produced for an Saginaw, Michigan area farm it was in reality devised for a products broker, and this particular business logo was one of several that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to design an identity that projected self-confidence, effectiveness, and prosperity.

Saginaw Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design function for outwardly encountering arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design designed for making use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is evocative a well-known sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked directly with the business owner to develop a logo design that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
