Andover, Minnesota Logo Design

Every new Andover business person understands that they are in need of a logo, however few new business owners fully comprehend the key role their company logo can take in their financial success, or exactly why one business logo performs better than another. A logo has an immediate and long-term impact on the success of a company, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of an organization.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Andover, Minnesota companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand consideration, they can be understood in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from labels to billboards a scalable logo design will stay legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be enduring and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.
Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Andover, Minnesota coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were opening in an old part of the area and wished to project a vintage atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved both jobs by means of designing a logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and bacteria developed for Andover, Minnesota medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the clinical assessment of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more captivating, more interest grabbing and more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping green frog made for a household enjoyable facility in Andover, Minnesota.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Andover, Minnesota travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather project emotional journeys by means of the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something comparable to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Andover logo design but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Andover logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, even though he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his hatred for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get honest assessments on the value of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo design understand how essential a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo project possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Andover, Minnesota publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most important part of a printed book since it is often the primary thing a person sees in the book store. Regarding a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it looks like that in many cases one of the items folks usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a feeling of air travel and it was certainly a success.

Andover logo design made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag style for Vintage Case includes an antiquated typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this business logo design I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different generation.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Andover, Minnesota, design include an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo design jobs because it appears that each and every dental professional involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dentist logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household nonprofit, the logo includes 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to explain specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a hair layout workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a business logo which projected a sense of ease and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious route of designing simply a stylized orchid but rather created a business logo that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is more often than not the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the importance on the perception that they wanted to project to their customers.

Logo style for a software application designer the design features as well as iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a company logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

A logo design featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to sell their used items to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Andover business logo dsign along with a graphic that pulls in the interest of traffic and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo design has an area integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand concept wasn’t actually designed for an Andover, Minnesota area farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this particular creative logo was one of a handful of which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to design a graphic that projects trust, financial success, and affluence.

Andover Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for externally encountering arrow and also the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without realizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design created for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is evocative a famous sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project where I worked closely with the business owner to design a logo design that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
