Cottage Grove, Minnesota Logo Design

Virtually every new Cottage Grove business realizes that they are in need of a logo, however few entrepreneurs thoroughly recognize the key role their logo design will make in their financial success, or precisely why one business logo functions more effectively than another. A logo design has an instant and long term impact on the growth of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of an organization.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Cottage Grove, Minnesota companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be timeless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Cottage Grove, Minnesota coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening in an old section of town and hoped to cast an old-fashioned vibe without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs via designing a business logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide as well as germs created for Cottage Grove, Minnesota medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory assessment of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, yet it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and much more memorable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a family members fun facility in Cottage Grove, Minnesota.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Cottage Grove, Minnesota traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather convey emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Cottage Grove logo design but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Cottage Grove logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and family as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced judgements on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo design understand how essential a logo design is for their company so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo design job has it’s portion of hurdles, but the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, design for Cottage Grove, Minnesota book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, but it really is the most important part of a published book due to the fact that it is in most cases the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever have to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it seems that in many instances one of the traits individuals often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to confering a good sense of air travel and it was certainly a success.

Cottage Grove logo design utilized for advertising and marketing and a tag style for Vintage Situation includes an old font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Cottage Grove, Minnesota, style consist of an arc with lines converging through it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that each and every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dentists do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually really love doing dentistry business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters surprised in height to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to explain precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo design developed for a hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design which carried an atmosphere of ease and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which didn’t go the obvious route of making simply a stylized orchid but alternatively created a business logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is frequently the incorrect direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the attention on the emotion that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Logo style for a software programmer the style attributes as well as renowned aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance behind a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to market their secondhand items to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Cottage Grove business logo dsign along with a graphic that seizes the attention of traffic and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has actually an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t really developed for an Cottage Grove, Minnesota regional farm it was in reality designed for an investments broker, and this particular trademark was one of multiple that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to make a brand mark that projects assurance, financial success, and prosperity.

Cottage Grove Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design function for externally facing arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they desired, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the liberty to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo created for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is reminiscent of a famous sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the business owner to develop a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
