Forest Lake Logo Design

Every new Forest Lake venture knows they need a logo, but few new business owners thoroughly realize the key role their logo design can perform in their success, or exactly why one logo performs far better than another. A company logo has a critical and long-term effect on the prosperity of a company, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Forest Lake companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand deliberation, they can be comprehended in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a business logo needs to be lasting and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Forest Lake coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were launching in an old part of the community and really wanted to project a vintage vibe without coming across as boring or low energy. I fulfilled both of these jobs by designing a company logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and germs developed for Forest Lake medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that analyzes the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine which works with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents very literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more attention grabbing and much more memorable.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a family enjoyable center in Forest Lake.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - created for Forest Lake traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche area due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Forest Lake logo design but also to show the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Forest Lake logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however my client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased point of views on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo design recognize how essential a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo project has it’s share of obstacles, but the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Forest Lake publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most important part of a published book given that it is usually the very first thing a person views in the book shop. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever get to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go nevertheless it seems like that in many occurrences one of the things consumers often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a sense of air travel and it was certainly a winner.

Forest Lake logo style made use of for advertising and also a label style for Vintage Case features an archaic typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this business logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could be utilized for every thing from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Forest Lake, style include an arc with lines converging via it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most difficult logo design projects because it seems that almost every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be illustrative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo style produced for a hair design workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which communicated an atmosphere of calmness and class for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious path of creating simply a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo which suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is frequently the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the focus on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo style for a software developer the layout functions as well as renowned element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in many cases the substance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

A logo design including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to market their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Forest Lake logo dsign with an image which garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo style has an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really created for an Forest Lake area farm it was actually devised for a commodities broker, and this business logo was one of several that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to produce a brand mark that projects trust, financial success, and affluence.
Logo design designed for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script typeface that is evocative a renowned sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created quite a lot of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked closely with the business owner to create a logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
