Mankato Logo Design

Virtually every new Mankato company knows they need a logo, however few entrepreneurs thoroughly recognize the key role their company logo can perform in their financial success, or precisely why one logo performs far better than another. A logo has an instant and sustaining impact on the growth of a company, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Mankato companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand contemplation, they can be understood in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo should be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo style of a bicycle produced for a Mankato coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffee shop were opening up in an old section of the area and hoped to cast a vintage feel without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs via creating a company logo concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria made for Mankato clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that examines the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical evaluation of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I recollect where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Typically I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo style with a leaping eco-friendly frog created for a household fun facility in Mankato.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and also a tree - created for Mankato travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather convey emotional journeys by means of the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they often convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Mankato logo design but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Mankato logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the client, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family didn’t share his hatred for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I urge them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get objective opinions on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to design their logo comprehend how important a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo design project possesses it’s portion of obstacles, however the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Mankato book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most critical part of a published book because it is usually the very first thing a person views in the book shop. With regard to a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will ever get to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many instances one of the aspects consumers tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a sense of air travel and it was surely a success.

Mankato logo design utilized for advertising and a tag layout for Vintage Case features an old-fashioned font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be vintage cases. For this custom logo design I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Mankato, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that almost every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a hair style workshop including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo that conveyed an atmosphere of serenity and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious direction of creating simply a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a business logo which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is generally the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the emphasis on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Logo style for a software application programmer the design functions as well as legendary component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

A logo style including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Mankato logo dsign using a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo style has a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t actually developed for an Mankato regional farm it was in reality designed for an investments broker, and this company logo was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was to create a graphic that projects confidence, success, and wealth.
Logo design designed for the use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is evocative a famous sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to design a business logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
