Mankato, Minnesota Logo Design

Nearly every new Mankato business professional understands that they are in need of a logo, yet few new business owners entirely comprehend the crucial role their business logo will take in their financial success, or the reason that one logo design functions more effectively than another. A business logo has an immediate and lasting influence on the success of a business, select the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Mankato, Minnesota companies prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require consideration, they can be comprehended in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from labels to movie screens a scalable business logo will stay legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be lasting and will feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.
Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Mankato, Minnesota coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually launching in an older part of the town and wanted to visualize a nostalgic atmosphere without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks by developing a sign design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria made for Mankato, Minnesota clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the sole instance I recall in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping green frog made for a family enjoyable facility in Mankato, Minnesota.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a some springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Mankato, Minnesota travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather communicate emotional experiences by means of the images they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they frequently convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Mankato logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Mankato logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design jobs that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get impartial point of views on the merit of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they adored the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo design understand how crucial a logo design is for their company so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo job possesses it’s portion of hurdles, but the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Mankato, Minnesota book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, but it really is the most necessary part of a printed book due to the fact that it is often the first thing a person views in the bookstore. Regarding a publisher, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many cases 1 of the aspects consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest start-up commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a sense of flight and it was certainly a success.

Mankato logo design made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Situation features an old-fashioned font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be antique cases. For this custom logo design I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could be used for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Mankato, Minnesota, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most difficult logo jobs considering that it appears that almost every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I actually love doing dental logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a household nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo design produced for a hair design studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo that communicated a spirit of serenity and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious direction of creating simply a stylized orchid but rather crafted a business logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is in most cases the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the attention on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo design for a software programmer the style functions and also famous aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it represented something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the significance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it serves the organization it stands for.

A logo style featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a location to market their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Mankato business logo dsign along with an image that captures the interest of vehicles and projects an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo style has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo design wasn’t really produced for an Mankato, Minnesota regional farm it was actually designed for an investments broker, and this brand was one of several which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to design an identity that projected confidence, success, and wealth.

Mankato Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design function for outwardly encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the liberty to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the first go.

Logo designed for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is evocative a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant business logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to create a business logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
