TIPS ON CHOOSING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can’t refund the time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be evaluated from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio does not feature real world examples chances are they will never be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to echo your unique vision for your business. If a logo designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Mankato LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds cultivate notable brands. We have performed branding work for ranchers, colleges, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee shops, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes us different compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as though it will be used as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first strategy our identity designs can, and have been used in everything from clothing labels to billboards. Our sign first approach ensures that our logo designs are equally reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or website applications, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and remembered irrespective of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you may have found online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are hired to perform, we do ourselves. Irrespective of the type of project we undertake, brand identity design, web page, trade show banners, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s projects to companies located outside the USA. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the cost of your project and imposes the terms of how we conduct business.

ASPECTS OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Every new Mankato company knows they need a logo, but few new business owners fully understand the pivotal role their organization’s logo can play in their becoming successful, or why one logo design functions more effectively than another. A logo has an instant and long term influence on the success of a company, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Mankato companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require consideration, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which operate on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from today.

understand your brand

Brand – It is both a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the act of noting something so that it could be identified, its genesis originates from the mark branded onto animals. These days a brand signifies virtually anything with an objective, whether it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the value of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are each from the exact same family, the difference being that marketing and advertising have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest directed at a specific audience, it’s goal is to create an image that the target market can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody states the names Lamborghini or Mustang what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people purchase those brands. Brand image is why people buy specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the beginning of the majority of branding firms you’ll discover that they are frequently rebranded marketing companies. When a person claims they are in marketing lots of people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design that helps shape the public image of a firm, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and sales brochures. Some visual designers also build web sites as well as software interfaces. The important role of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the objective of affecting actions, results and understandings.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Mankato coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and cafe were actually launching in an old section of the community and hoped to cast an old-fashioned vibe without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished both tasks by developing a company logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs developed for Mankato clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of medicine which works with the clinical assessment of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I recollect in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more interesting, more interest grabbing and more memorable.

logo style with a leaping green frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in Mankato.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Mankato travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche sector because travel photographers don’t capture locations or things but instead project emotional journeys by means of the images they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Mankato logo design but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Mankato logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of business logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial judgements on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their business logo comprehend how essential a logo is for their company so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of obstacles, but the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Mankato publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most vital part of a printed book considering that it is in most cases the very first thing a person views in the book shop. Regarding a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it seems like that in many instances one of the things people usually tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a good sense of air travel and it was surely a victory.

Mankato logo design made use of for advertising and marketing as well as a tag layout for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be older cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Mankato, design consist of an arc with lines converging through it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs because it appears that each and every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really love doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 personalities startled in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design that communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that explains itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout developed for a Mankato hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo that projected a sense of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious route of making just a stylized orchid but instead created a business logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is usually the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the main focus on the perception that they wanted to project to their clients.

Arabian steed logo layout created for a horse cattle ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian show horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a unique company logo concept customized to display the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With a different head form and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most immediately recognizable equine types in the world.

Las Cafe, A Mankato restaurant logo layout a tiny dining establishment, style includes a customized script font which floats over a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a tiny dining establishment, style includes a modified script typeface which hovers above a group of elaborate lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software application programmer the style functions and iconic Mankato element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and disk managing. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the meaning supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it represents.

Progress logo style developed for a Mankatoindoor designer, style feature a collection of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Mankato interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who organizes, investigates, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, site assessments, programming, study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Mankato, the characters for letter V and A in middle of the word advanced have been modified to tie directly right into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Mankato logo design assignment was completed for a management consultant that enables business leaders to become more successful at handling people, expectations, and productivity.

A Mankato business logo style including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a location to sell off their used goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Mankato business logo design with a graphic that seizes the interest of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Mankato company logo style has a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t really produced for an Mankato area farm it was in reality developed for a commodities broker, and this particular creative logo was one of several that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to make an identity that projects esteem, financial success, and opulence.

Mankato Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for externally encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the freedom to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without realizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I struck a bullseye with the first go.

Logo designed for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript typeface that is similar to a popular Mankato sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to develop a logo design which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
