POINTERS ON PICKING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to remember that they can not refund the amount of time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be determined from the quality of their design work, if the work in their portfolio does not contain actual examples odds are they won’t be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to reflect your personal vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Minneapolis LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping business owners grow unforgettable brands. We’ve undertaken logo design work for builders, schools, diamond miners, party planners, bistros, retailers, and practically every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes ImageCo different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every logo design project as if it will be utilized as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first method our designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first approach guarantees that our logo designs are just as reliable whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered no matter of size or function.

American Made ★ Design

Something that really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design firms that you might have found on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are retained to perform, we perform in-house. No matter the kind of design project we undertake, logo, web page, trade show exhibit, or electric sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s projects to companies located outside the United States. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the price of your design project and imposes the terms of how my customers and I do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Minneapolis organization realizes that they require a logo, however few start-ups thoroughly recognize the essential role their company logo can make in their financial success, or precisely why one logo works better than another. A logo has a critical and lasting influence on the financial success of a business, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, choose the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Minneapolis businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require contemplation, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable logo will continue to be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the item or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the act of noting something to make sure that it could be identified, its origin originates from the mark branded onto livestock. These days a brand signifies basically anything with an intention, regardless of whether it be earnings or government agencies, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are both from the exact same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest targeted at a target market, it’s objective is to produce an image that the target market will connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and identity design. When somebody states the names Porsche or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people buy those brands. Brand image is why individuals buy most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the beginning of a lot of branding agencies you’ll find that they are frequently re-branded advertising and marketing companies. When somebody claims they are in marketing most people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or listened to belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design that helps shape the public image of a business, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and collateral products such as cards, stationery, as well as sales brochures. Some visual designers also design web sites as well as user interfaces. The necessary role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as a psychological tone with the goal of affecting activities, end results and also understandings.

Featured SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Minneapolis coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were opening up in an old section of the community and wished to project a nostalgic vibe without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished the two tasks via designing a business logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide as well as bacteria developed for Minneapolis medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which examines the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical evaluation of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I recollect in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a family enjoyable facility in Minneapolis.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Minneapolis travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but instead communicate emotional journeys through the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something the same to this logo by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Minneapolis logo but also to reveal the depth of her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Minneapolis logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however my client, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his contempt for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get impartial assessments on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo realize how important a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo design project possesses it’s portion of challenges, but the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Minneapolis publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most important part of a published book given that it is often the very first thing a person sees in the book store. For a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity that they will ever have to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it seems like that in many cases one of the things folks often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a spirit of airline flight and it was undoubtedly a success.

Minneapolis logo layout utilized for advertising as well as a tag layout for Vintage Instance features an antiquated font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, which looked to be much older cases. For this logo design I sought to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old style feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Minneapolis, design consist of an arc with lines converging via it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that almost every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dental care logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself won’t have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo style developed for a Minneapolis hair style studio including a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design that communicated a sense of tranquility and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious direction of designing merely a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a logo which suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is generally the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the importance on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their clients.

Arabian equine logo style created for an equine ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a one-of-a-kind custom logo concept tailored to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having an unique head form and very high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most easily recognizable equine breeds in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Minneapolis restaurant logo style a little dining establishment, design contains a changed manuscript typeface which floats over a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo design a small restaurant, layout consists of a changed script font style which floats above a group of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software application developer the layout functions as well as renowned Minneapolis component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it intimated something to the owner of the business and in many cases the meaning behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

Evolve logo layout produced for a Minneapolisinterior designer, layout feature a series of red circles that intersect as well as replace the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Minneapolis interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who arranges, explores, coordinates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that consists of conceptual development, area planning, location examinations, programming, research study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Minneapolis, the characters for letter V as well as A in center of the word advanced have been modified to tie directly into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Minneapolis logo design project was done for a leadership coach that enables business leaders to become more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Minneapolis business logo design featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a place to sell their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Minneapolis business logo design along with a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Minneapolis company logo layout has a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t actually composed for an Minneapolis area farm it was really developed for an investments broker, and this logo was one of a handful of which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to make an identity that projected self-assurance, effectiveness, and wealth.

Minneapolis Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo layout function for ostensibly encountering arrow and the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without realizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo design developed for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript typeface that is evocative a popular Minneapolis sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to create a logo that worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
