Owatonna Logo Design

Virtually every new Owatonna organization realizes that they are in need of a logo, yet few new business owners entirely understand the pivotal role their company logo can make in their becoming successful, or why one logo works more effectively than another. A logo has an instant and lasting impact on the success of a company, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Owatonna companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not demand scrutiny, they can be understood in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will remain legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Owatonna coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually launching in an old section of the area and really wanted to visualize a vintage feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I achieved the two jobs via designing a custom logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide as well as bacteria designed for Owatonna clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which researches the triggers and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that works with the clinical assessment of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I recall in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more interesting, more focus grabbing and a lot more memorable.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a family members fun center in Owatonna.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for Owatonna travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences through the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they often share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with just words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Owatonna logo design but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Owatonna logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of custom logo design projects that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man truly loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his aversion for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to discuss it with colleagues and family as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced point of views on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo design realize how vital a logo design is for their organization so they are way more invested in the end result. Every logo job has it’s portion of challenges, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for Owatonna book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, yet it really is the most important part of a published book due to the fact that it is in most cases the initial thing a person sees in the book shop. For a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it seems that in many instances 1 of the items people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a sense of airline flight and it was surely a winner.

Owatonna logo style used for marketing as well as a tag design for Vintage Case includes an antiquated typeface design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand-new cases for musical instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this custom logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Owatonna, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it seems that each and every dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really enjoy doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to summarize precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo design created for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which related an atmosphere of peace and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious path of crafting simply a stylized orchid but rather delivered a logo design which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is oftentimes the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead laid the importance on the perception that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software application developer the design features and also legendary element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the meaning behind a business logo is just as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

Progress logo layout produced for a Owatonna interior developer, layout function a collection of red circles that converge and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo style.

A logo style featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly towards the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly recognized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a place to sell off their used goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Owatonna logo dsign using an illustration that grabs the attention of traffic and sends an image that arouses the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo design has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem idea wasn’t really created for an Owatonna regional farm it was actually devised for a products broker, and this particular logo design was one of many which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to design a graphic that projected self-confidence, success, and affluence.
Logo developed for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is evocative a popular sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the owner to create a logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
