White Bear Lake Logo Design

Every new White Bear Lake venture realizes that they need a logo, but few new business owners entirely understand the essential role their company logo can take in their financial success, or the reason that one logo works far better than another. A logo design has an instant and lasting effect on the prosperity of a business, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help White Bear Lake companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand deliberation, they can be realized in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be enduring and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bike created for a White Bear Lake coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening in an older section of town and wished to project a nostalgic tone without coming across as boring or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by creating a trademark design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs developed for White Bear Lake clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that examines the causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that deals with the clinical examination of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more appealing, more focus grabbing and even more memorable.

logo style with a leaping eco-friendly frog developed for a family enjoyable center in White Bear Lake.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - created for White Bear Lake travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead project emotional journeys through the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness which can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  White Bear Lake logo but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

White Bear Lake logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I honestly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his contempt for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced viewpoints on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they loved the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Business logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to create their logo design realize how important a logo design is for their business so they are way more invested in the result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of difficulties, however the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for White Bear Lake book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, but it is the most necessary part of a published book given that it is in most cases the initial thing a person sees in the book store. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever get to publicize their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart however it looks like that in many instances one of the things folks tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest startup commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a spirit of flight and it was surely a winner.

White Bear Lake logo design used for marketing as well as a tag design for Vintage Case includes an antiquated font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this business logo design I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in White Bear Lake, style include an arc with lines converging with it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo design jobs considering that it appears that every single dental professional features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business branding, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dental logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a household nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo that carried an atmosphere of serenity and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that didn’t go the obvious direction of creating merely a stylized orchid but instead delivered a logo design that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is more often than not the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the attention on the feeling that they wanted to project to their customers.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo design for a software developer the design attributes and famous aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly knew the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to market their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their White Bear Lake logo design dsign utilizing an image which seizes the attention of vehicles and projects an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo design has an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo concept wasn’t really created for an White Bear Lake area farm it was actually developed for a products broker, and this particular brand was one of many that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to produce a brand mark that projects esteem, effectiveness, and affluence.
Logo created for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is evocative a renowned sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the owner to create a business logo that worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
