Ocean Springs, Mississippi Logo Design

Virtually every new Ocean Springs company realizes that they need a logo, however few entrepreneurs thoroughly grasp the key role their logo design can play in their success, or precisely why one logo design works better than another. A business logo has a critical and long-term influence on the financial success of a business, go with the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a company.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Ocean Springs, Mississippi businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable logo will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo must be ageless and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.
Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Ocean Springs, Mississippi coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and cafe were launching in an older section of the area and really wanted to visualize a nostalgic vibe without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both of these tasks by developing a symbol design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria designed for Ocean Springs, Mississippi medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the root causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that works with the laboratory evaluation of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves very literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more interesting, more focus grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping green frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental practices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - created for Ocean Springs, Mississippi traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but rather reveal emotional journeys by means of the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they often tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Ocean Springs logo design but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Ocean Springs logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I genuinely savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however my customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This guy genuinely hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased opinions on the value of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their logo design understand how vital a logo design is for their company so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo project has it’s share of difficulties, but the largest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Ocean Springs, Mississippi publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, but it is the most important part of a published book considering that it is in most cases the first thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever have to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it seems that in many cases one of the things folks tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a feeling of flight and it was certainly a winner.

Ocean Springs logo layout used for marketing and a tag layout for Vintage Situation features an antiquated font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be vintage cases. For this brand concept I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for everything from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different era.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging logo design jobs due to the fact that it seems that almost every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really enjoy doing dental care logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities startled in height to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The intention of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo style created for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a business logo which communicated a spirit of tranquility and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious direction of creating just a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo design that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl blended into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is frequently the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian horse logo design produced for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a one-of-a-kind logotype concept tailored to exemplify the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. By having a different head shape and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly easily recognizable equine lineages in the world.

Logo style for a software program developer the design attributes as well as famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a logo is just as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

A logo layout featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly understood the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a location to market their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Ocean Springs logo dsign with an illustration that garners the interest of vehicles and sends an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo layout has an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo idea wasn’t really developed for an Ocean Springs, Mississippi area farm it was in reality designed for a commodities broker, and this company was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to develop a brand mark that projects self-assurance, effectiveness, and wealth.

Ocean Springs Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout function for externally dealing with arrow as well as the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the liberty to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without knowing where the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo design made for using an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script font that is similar to a well-known sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great project where I worked directly with the business owner to create a logo design which worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
