STRATEGIES ON FINDING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to remember that they can’t reimburse the amount of time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be evaluated by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not feature actual samples odds are they will not be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s goal is to mirror your unique vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Overland LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs cultivate notable brand identities. We have performed brand design work for farmers, educational institutions, heart surgeons, party planners, coffee shops, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can think of. What makes us unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as though it will be used as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first approach our brand identity designs can, and have been utilized in everything from clothing labels to billboards. Our sign first method ensures that our logos are equally reliable whether they are used in television commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, comprehended, and remembered irrespective of size or use.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that really sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you might possibly have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are hired to perform, we perform ourselves. No matter the kind of project we undertake, business logo, web site, trade show display, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will farm out our client’s projects to 3rd parties located outside the USA. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that marks up the cost of your project and imposes the conditions of how my customers and I conduct business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Overland business realizes that they require a logo, however few new business owners fully realize the vital role their company logo can make in their becoming successful, or why one logo performs more effectively than another. A company logo has an instant and lasting influence on the success of a business, pick the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life span of a business. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Overland businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable logo will be legible and just as emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be timeless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It is a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of denoting something to ensure that it could be distinguished, its origin originates from the mark burned onto livestock. These days a brand symbolizes virtually anything with an intention, regardless if it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the value of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are both from the exact same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest aimed at a specific audience, it’s goal is to produce an image that the audience will connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When somebody mentions the names Porsche or Mustang what we think of is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why individuals buy most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the beginning of a lot of branding companies you’ll find that they are often re-branded marketing and advertising agencies. When somebody claims they are in marketing the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. Yet when a person says “I’m in branding”… it simply sounds more impressive, maybe it’s since many people don’t fully understand what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and kind of sexy.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that defines the visual components of a product or business that influence view points. This mainly consists of the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors used however can also consist of audio, illumination, texture, signage, actually anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design which helps shape the perception of a business, a product or a business. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as cards, stationery, and also pamphlets. Some visual designers also design sites as well as software interfaces. The essential function of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of influencing actions, results and also assumptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo design of a bicycle developed for a Overland coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and cafe were actually opening up in an older part of the area and wanted to project an old-fashioned feel without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both jobs via developing a custom logo concept that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and also germs developed for Overland medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that deals with the clinical assessment of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I remember where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Generally I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo layout with a leaping eco-friendly frog created for a household enjoyable center in Overland.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a much more lively high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and also a tree - made for Overland traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead convey emotional journeys by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I attempted to do something the same to this logo by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Overland logo design but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Overland logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however my customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this particular breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased judgements on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a strange creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their logo design recognize how important a logo design is for their company so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo project possesses it’s share of difficulties, but the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Overland book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, however it is the most vital part of a published book considering that it is ordinarily the very first thing a person views in the book shop. With respect to a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will ever have to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems like that in many instances one of the items folks tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a spirit of flight and it was surely a winner.

Overland logo design used for advertising and marketing and a label style for Vintage Case features an old-fashioned font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web site to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Overland, style include an arc with lines converging through it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can be one of the most challenging logo jobs considering that it appears that virtually every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry industry.

I really enjoy doing dentist logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family members nonprofit, the logo design includes 4 characters surprised in elevation to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to illustrate exactly how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a Overland hair style studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a company logo which conveyed an atmosphere of simplicity and connection for their new hair studio. I created a concept that did not go the obvious direction of designing merely a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a company logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is in most cases the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately laid the emphasis on the feeling that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo layout created for a steed cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a unique logo design tailored to exemplify the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. By having a different head form and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily identifiable equine breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Overland restaurant logo layout a little dining establishment, style contains a changed manuscript font style which hovers above a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a small restaurant, layout consists of a customized script typeface which floats over a team of ornate lines and dots.

Logo design for a software program programmer the design features and famous Overland component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive managing. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance behind a logo is equally as important as how it serves the organization it represents.

Develop logo layout produced for a Overlandinterior developer, design function a collection of red circles that intersect as well as change the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Overland interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who organizes, investigates, collaborates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that involves conceptual development, space planning, location examinations, programming, study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Overland, the characters for letter V and A in middle of the word progressed have been customized to link directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Overland logo design project was undertaken for a management guide that aids business leaders to become more effective at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A Overland business logo design featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly understood the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell off their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Overland logo design with a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Overland company logo style has actually a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo idea wasn’t actually created for an Overland area farm it was actually developed for a commodities broker, and this company logo was one of many which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to produce a graphic that projects assurance, effectiveness, and wealth.

Overland Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo design feature for ostensibly facing arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the flexibility to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without realizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo made for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is similar to a renowned Overland sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted loads of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to design a business logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
