Bozeman, Montana Logo Design

Each and every new Bozeman venture knows they are in need of a logo, but few new business owners fully realize the vital role their logo design can take in their becoming successful, or the reason that one logo design works far better than another. A business logo has a critical and long term influence on the prosperity of a business, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a business.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Bozeman, Montana businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 traits in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require scrutiny, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be enduring and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Bozeman, Montana coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening up in an older part of the city and really wanted to project a retro tone without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved both jobs via creating a logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs created for Bozeman, Montana medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the triggers and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine that works with the clinical assessment of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more interesting, more focus grabbing and even more memorable.

logo design with a leaping green frog designed for a family fun center in Bozeman, Montana.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Bozeman, Montana traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather reveal emotional journeys through the images they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Bozeman logo but also to illustrate the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Bozeman logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design projects that I take on I honestly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his scorn for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced opinions on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a weird creature in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo comprehend how vital a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the final result. Every logo project possesses it’s share of difficulties, but the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Bozeman, Montana publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most essential part of a published book because it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the book shop. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever get to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems like that in many occurrences one of the aspects folks often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company located in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a sense of air travel and it was definitely a winner.

Bozeman logo layout utilized for advertising as well as a tag style for Vintage Situation features an old-fashioned font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid old style feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another point in time.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Bozeman, Montana, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs because it appears that each and every dental professional includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dentists do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I actually love doing dentist business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 personalities surprised in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people residing in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design produced for a hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo which related a spirit of peace and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept that did not go the obvious route of designing merely a stylized orchid but rather created a logo which suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is usually the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately put the main focus on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian horse logo design created for an equine ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created an original business logo concept fashioned to illustrate the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. With an unique head shape and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most quite easily identifiable horse types in the entire world.

Logo style for a software program designer the design features and famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

A logo style featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell off their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Bozeman business logo dsign with a graphic that garners the attention of traffic and sends an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo layout has actually an area integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t really designed for an Bozeman, Montana regional farm it was really created for a products broker, and this trademark was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to develop a graphic that projected assurance, effectiveness, and luxury.

Bozeman Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout feature for ostensibly encountering arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the opportunity to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this case, I struck a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo design designed for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is reminiscent of a renowned sporting activities team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant custom logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to design a logo that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
