Kalispell Logo Design

Every new Kalispell venture understands that they need a logo, however few entrepreneurs entirely comprehend the pivotal role their organization logo will perform in their success, or why one logo functions better than another. A company logo has an instant and sustaining effect on the success of a business, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of an organization. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Kalispell companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand scrutiny, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a Kalispell coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening in an older section of the town and hoped to cast an old-fashioned feel without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I accomplished both jobs by developing a symbol design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and germs developed for Kalispell clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of healthcare that deals with the laboratory evaluation of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is really the only instance I recall in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Generally I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more intriguing, more focus grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping eco-friendly frog created for a family fun facility in Kalispell.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and a tree - created for Kalispell traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather reveal emotional journeys by means of the photos they record. The idea behind this logo composition was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they often share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with just words. I tried to do something much the same to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Kalispell logo design but also to illustrate the depth of her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Kalispell logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I honestly relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy really disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this specific variety of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced viewpoints on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that tend to hire a professional to design their logo design comprehend how essential a logo is for their business so they are way more invested in the final result. Every logo project has it’s allotment of difficulties, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, layout for Kalispell book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, but it really is the most essential part of a published book since it is often the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. With regard to a publisher, it’s the opportunity they will ever have to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart nevertheless it seems that in many instances one of the items consumers tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small fledgling commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of airline flight and it was definitely a victory.

Kalispell logo style utilized for advertising as well as a label design for Vintage Instance features an old font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this logo design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be used for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Kalispell, layout include an arc with lines converging through it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo design projects due to the fact that it seems that each and every dentist integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the exact same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a household not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to illustrate exactly how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a hair design studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a business logo that related a spirit of serenity and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a design that did not go the obvious path of making merely a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a business logo that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is usually the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the emphasis on the emotion that they really wanted to project to their clients.

Logo layout for a software programmer the style functions as well as famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it meant something to the owner of the company and in quite a few cases the significance behind a logo is just as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

A logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly knew the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell their used items to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Kalispell logo dsign using an image which captures the interest of traffic and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and serene habitat.
Logo layout MQ ranches, this logo style has a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really composed for an Kalispell area farm it was actually created for an investments broker, and this logo design was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to create a brand mark that projects confidence, financial success, and prosperity.
Logo design created for making use of an indication for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is reminiscent of a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to design a logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
