POINTERS FOR PICKING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design company presents a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t reimburse the amount of time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be determined by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain actual examples chances are they will never be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s purpose is to mirror your personal vision for your business. If a logo designer isn’t focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Reno LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs establish unforgettable brand identities. We’ve undertaken brand design work for farmers, educational institutions, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee roasters, retailers, and practically every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes ImageCo different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as if it will be employed as an electric sign. Because of our sign first strategy our designs can, and have been used in everything from clothing labels to billboards. Our sign first approach insures that our logos are equally reliable whether they are used in television commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered irrespective of size or function.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference that really sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you might have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are brought on board to perform, we perform ourselves. Irrespective of the kind of design project we undertake, business logo, business website, trade show booth, or retail sign, we do not, and never will farm out our customer’s work to organizations based outside the United States. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that marks up the price of your project and imposes the conditions of how you and I do business.

QUALITIES OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Reno organization knows they require a logo, however few start ups thoroughly recognize the vital role their logo can make in their success, or why one business logo performs better than another. A logo has a critical and long term impact on the financial success of a business, go with the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Reno companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need scrutiny, they can be grasped in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to store signs a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the item or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be enduring and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark and the process of noting something to make sure that it could be recognized, its foundation comes from the brand branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand signifies practically anything with an objective, regardless if it be earnings or political parties, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s sexy sister, they are each from the very same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition targeted at a target market, it’s objective is to create an image that the audience will likely connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody states the brand names Ferrari or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why people acquire specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the beginning of a lot of branding agencies you’ll find that they are quite often re-branded advertising and marketing firms. When a person claims they are in marketing most people will likely have an idea about what they do. However when a person claims “I am in branding”… it just sounds much more attractive, maybe it’s due to the fact that the majority of people do not fully understand what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and sexy.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that describes the visual components of a product or agency that affect view points. This largely includes the name, the logo, the product packaging, the different colors used however can also consist of audio, lighting, texture, signage, actually anything that can be seen, felt or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a kind of visual design which helps form the public image of a firm, a product or a company. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some identity designers also design websites and also software interfaces. The necessary role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and also a psychological tone with the objective of affecting actions, results and also understandings.

Featured SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo design of a bicycle developed for a Reno coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and bistro were opening up in an old part of the town and wished to visualize a nostalgic feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I achieved both tasks by means of developing a business logo design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as bacteria developed for Reno medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that analyzes the root causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine which works with the clinical assessment of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it represents fairly literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more appealing, more focus grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping eco-friendly frog developed for a household enjoyable facility in Reno.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a couple of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really reflect an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Reno travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather project emotional journeys by means of the images they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they often tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Reno logo design but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Reno logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I honestly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy really hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members did not share his scorn for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with other people that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral viewpoints on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo design comprehend how crucial a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo design job has it’s share of challenges, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, layout for Reno book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, but it really is the most critical part of a printed book due to the fact that it is usually the very first thing a person views in the book shop. Regarding a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity they will ever have to promote their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart nevertheless it seems that in many cases one of the items individuals often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a spirit of flight and it was surely a winner.

Reno logo style used for marketing and a tag style for Vintage Instance features an old-fashioned font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be vintage cases. For this business logo design I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for anything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Reno, style consist of an arc with lines converging with it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can be one of the most difficult logo design projects considering that it seems that virtually every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practices do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the folks in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design produced for a Reno hair design studio featuring a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a company logo that projected a sense of calmness and connection for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious path of crafting simply a stylized orchid but rather created a company logo that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by placing attention on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is usually the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the importance on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design developed for an equine ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a one-of-a-kind logo design fashioned to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With an identifiable head shape and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most immediately recognizable equine breeds in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Reno Coffee shop logo layout a tiny restaurant, layout includes a changed script font style which floats above a group of ornate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a little dining establishment, style consists of a modified manuscript font style which floats above a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo design for a software programmer the layout functions and also famous Reno element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism behind a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

Develop logo design developed for a Renoindoor designer, design function a series of red circles that converge as well as change the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Reno interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who prepares, investigates, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a diverse profession that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location evaluations, programming, study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Reno, the personalities for letter V as well as A in middle of the word advanced have been customized to link directly into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Reno logo design assignment was carried out for a management guide that helps business leaders to become more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Reno business logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a location to sell their pre-owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Reno logo design with an image which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that invokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Reno company logo design has a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t actually developed for an Reno regional farm it was really designed for a commodities broker, and this company logo was one of many that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was really to make a graphic that projects trust, effectiveness, and affluence.

Reno Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for externally facing arrow and the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I struck a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo design made for making use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is evocative a well-known Reno sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created loads of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to design a logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
