Derry, New Hampshire Logo Design

Nearly every new Derry organization knows they require a logo, but few new business owners entirely recognize the crucial role their logo can make in their becoming successful, or exactly why one business logo works better than another. A logo has an instant and sustaining effect on the success of a business, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be a barrier and an impediment for the life span of a company.

The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Derry, New Hampshire businesses prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these 5 things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not demand deliberation, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will remain legible and just as emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

Logo PORTFOLIO Volume 1

Retro logo design of a bike created for a Derry, New Hampshire coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually launching in an old part of the town and hoped to visualize an old-fashioned atmosphere without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished both jobs via developing a logo design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and germs made for Derry, New Hampshire medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which examines the triggers and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine which deals with the clinical assessment of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I recall in which I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more interesting, more interest grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog made for a family enjoyable facility in Derry, New Hampshire.

Cool Springs | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and a tree - made for Derry, New Hampshire traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes convey entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Derry logo design but also to show the depth of her work and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Derry logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I seriously take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A however my customer, while he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I urge all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased judgements on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo design realize how crucial a logo design is for their company so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo project possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, however the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Derry, New Hampshire publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most important part of a published book considering that it is in most cases the initial thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity that they will ever get to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many occurrences one of the traits people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of air travel and it was definitely a success.

Derry logo style used for advertising as well as a tag style for Vintage Case includes an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could be used for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Derry, New Hampshire, layout consist of an arc with lines converging with it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it appears that virtually every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their branding in the very same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually really love doing dental logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities surprised in elevation to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo style produced for a hair design workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a company logo which communicated a sense of peace and class for their new hair studio. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious route of crafting just a stylized orchid but alternatively designed a business logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design along with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is more often than not the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately laid the importance on the feeling that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo style for a software program developer the layout features and also iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance behind a logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

A logo style featuring an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly recognized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell off their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts. I created their Derry business logo dsign utilizing an illustration that pulls in the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo layout has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo design wasn’t really created for an Derry, New Hampshire regional farm it was in reality designed for a commodities broker, and this trademark was one of multiple which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to make a graphic that projects trust, effectiveness, and opulence.

Derry Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo design function for externally encountering arrowhead and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the flexibility to investigate any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s difficult to hit a bullseye in the absence of knowing where the target is. Fortunately, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo made for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is reminiscent of a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the USA, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the owner to produce a logo which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
