STRATEGIES ON PICKING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo design is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can’t refund the amount of time you commit which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but inevitably a design agency can only be determined from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain actual examples chances are they will never be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s objective is to reflect your personal vision for your company. If a logo designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they can get paid.

Derry Village LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping small business owners develop memorable brands. We’ve done logo design work for builders, colleges, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee shops, retail stores, and just about every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes us unique compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every logo design project as if it will be employed as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our logo designs can, and have been utilized in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first approach ensures that our logos are just as successful whether they are used in television commercials or web apps, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and always remembered no matter of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you may have come across on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are brought on board to do, we do ourselves. No matter the type of project we take on, logo design, website, trade show exhibition, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job out our customer’s work to organizations based outside the United States. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the price of your design project and dictates the conditions of how you and I do business.

ASPECTS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Derry Village business realizes that they require a logo, yet few start ups thoroughly understand the pivotal role their logo design will play in their success, or precisely why one logo design performs better than another. A company logo has a critical and long-term impact on the prosperity of a company, select the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Derry Village companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not require consideration, they can be understood in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will continue to be legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the item or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark as well as the process of marking something to make sure that it can be identified, its origin originates from the mark branded onto livestock. These days a brand indicates pretty much anything with an intention, regardless if it be earnings or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of specifying the value of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s attractive sister, they are both from the exact same family, the difference being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity contest directed at a specific audience, it’s objective is to produce an image that the target market can relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and identity design. When someone states the brand names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals want those brands. Brand image is why people acquire most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the history of most branding companies you’ll discover that they are frequently re-branded advertising companies. When somebody states they are in marketing lots of people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a type of visual design which helps form the public image of a business, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and also collateral material such as cards, stationery, and pamphlets. Some identity designers also develop web sites and user interfaces. The crucial function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of affecting activities, results and perceptions.

select signs/logos

Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Derry Village coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening in an older part of the city and hoped to cast a vintage tone without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved both jobs via developing a logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide as well as bacteria designed for Derry Village medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which analyzes the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of samplings of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I remember where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Usually I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more appealing, more attention grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo style with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a family fun facility in Derry Village.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have ever had the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to feature a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - designed for Derry Village traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche area because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead communicate emotional journeys through the photos they record. The idea behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they frequently share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I tried to do something the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Derry Village logo but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Derry Village logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but the customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man truly hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his scorn for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to talk about it with colleagues and family as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral opinions on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their logo design understand how important a logo design is for their company so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo project has it’s portion of difficulties, however the greatest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Derry Village book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, but it is the most essential part of a published book since it is ordinarily the first thing a person sees in the book store. For a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will likely ever get to publicize their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go however it seems that in many occurrences 1 of the things individuals often tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a good sense of air travel and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Derry Village logo design utilized for marketing and also a tag design for Vintage Instance includes an old font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that offered a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Derry Village, layout include an arc with lines converging with it to suggest steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging logo jobs considering that it appears that each and every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental profession.

I really enjoy doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities surprised in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to summarize exactly how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo style produced for a Derry Village hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo that communicated a spirit of contentment and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious direction of creating simply a stylized orchid but alternatively created a business logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is more often than not the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the focus on the emotion that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian equine logo design produced for a horse ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian show equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a distinct brand design fashioned to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. With an identifiable head form and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily recognizable equine types in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Derry Village restaurant logo design a little dining establishment, style includes a modified manuscript font style which floats above a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a small dining establishment, style contains a modified script font style which floats over a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software designer the design attributes and legendary Derry Village component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive operations. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it intimated something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a logo is just as important as how it brands the enterprise it stands for.

Develop logo design created for a Derry Villageindoor developer, layout feature a collection of red circles that intersect and replace the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Derry Village interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who organizes, researches, coordinates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that includes conceptual development, space planning, location assessments, programming, analysis, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Derry Village, the personalities for letter V and also A in center of words progressed have been changed to tie straight into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Derry Village logo design project was undertaken for a management specialist that helps business professionals to develop into more efficient at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Derry Village business logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly understood the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell their used items to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Derry Village logo design using an illustration which captures the interest of traffic and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Derry Village company logo layout has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t really created for an Derry Village area farm it was in reality designed for an investments broker, and this company was one of many that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to create a brand mark that projects trust, effectiveness, and opulence.

Derry Village Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for outwardly dealing with arrowhead and also the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design that they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the liberty to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of realizing where the target is. Fortunately, in this particular case, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo made for the use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font style that is evocative a popular Derry Village sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve created dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to design a logo design which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
