Salem, New Hampshire Logo Design

Virtually every new Salem business person knows they require a logo, yet few new business owners entirely realize the vital role their company logo can play in their success, or why one logo works far better than another. A logo has a critical and sustaining effect on the success of a company, pick the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the wrong one and it will be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a company.

The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Salem, New Hampshire companies succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the main reason they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require deliberation, they can be grasped in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are unique, and they are suitable for the business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be lasting and should feel as relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.
Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Salem, New Hampshire coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were actually opening in an older part of the city and really wanted to visualize a retro atmosphere without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled the two tasks by designing a sign concept that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide as well as bacteria made for Salem, New Hampshire medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which researches the triggers and consequences of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that works with the laboratory assessment of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I call to mind in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a design and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that helps make it more interesting, more attention grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping eco-friendly frog created for a family fun facility in Salem, New Hampshire.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to incorporate a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to provide the logo a better enthusiastic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Salem, New Hampshire traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but rather project emotional experiences through the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be revealed with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Salem logo but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Salem logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design projects that I take on I genuinely enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to share it with colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get unbiased assessments on the benefit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they adored the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to create their business logo realize how vital a logo design is for their organization so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s allotment of obstacles, however the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Salem, New Hampshire publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most vital part of a published book considering that it is usually the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will ever have to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart but it seems that in many cases 1 of the aspects people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and while I’m not sure it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a sense of air travel and it was surely a victory.

Salem logo design utilized for advertising and marketing and a label design for Vintage Case features an old font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in brand new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this business logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different generation.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Salem, New Hampshire, layout include an arc with lines converging with it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo design jobs due to the fact that it appears that each and every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dentist logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and eventually I created a design that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo features 4 characters startled in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization hopes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to illustrate specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo layout created for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo design which carried a spirit of ease and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious path of designing merely a stylized orchid but instead crafted a business logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is generally the incorrect route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the main focus on the emotion that they wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design created for an equine cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo design for a software program developer the style features and also iconic aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive managing. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism supporting a logo design is just as important as how it brands the organization it stands for.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market was primed for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a location for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to sell off their secondhand equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Salem business logo dsign along with an image that garners the interest of traffic and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the illustration of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo design has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo design wasn’t really composed for an Salem, New Hampshire area farm it was really created for a commodities broker, and this particular brand was one of multiple which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to design a graphic that projects self-assurance, effectiveness, and wealth.

Salem Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for ostensibly dealing with arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what kind of logo design they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the flexibility to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I hit a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo designed for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font that is evocative a well-known sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a logo design which worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
