TIPS ON IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot reimburse the time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many design firms talk a good game but inevitably a design firm can only be determined from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio does not feature real world samples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to echo your unique vision for your business. If a logo designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Atlantic City LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs grow memorable brand identities. We’ve done logo design work for ranchers, universities, heart surgeons, wedding singers, diners, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes us different compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as though it will be used as an electric sign. Because of our sign first strategy our identity designs can, and have been used in everything from clothing labels to billboards. Our sign first approach ensures that our logo designs are equally successful whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and remembered regardless of size or use.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design companies that you might possibly have found online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are hired to perform, we perform in-house. Irrespective of the kind of project we undertake, logo, web site, trade show exhibit, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job out our client’s projects to 3rd parties based outside the US. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that increases the cost of your design project and imposes the conditions of how you and I do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Atlantic City company knows they need a logo, however few start-ups thoroughly comprehend the essential role their logo design will perform in their becoming successful, or exactly why one business logo functions more effectively than another. A company logo has an instant and lasting influence on the growth of a company, select the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Atlantic City companies succeed, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not need contemplation, they can be grasped in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable business logo will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It is a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of denoting something so that it could be recognized, its foundation comes from the mark burned onto animals. These days a brand indicates pretty much anything with an objective, whether it be earnings or government agencies, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s attractive cousin, they are each from the exact same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition targeted at a target audience, it’s objective is to create an image that the target market will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone says the names Porsche or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes people want those products. Brand image is why people purchase specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the beginning of many branding firms you’ll find that they are often rebranded advertising firms. When a person states they are in advertising most individuals will likely have an idea about what they do. But when somebody says “I’m in branding”… it simply seems much more attractive, maybe it’s since most people do not understand what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and kind of attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that describes the visual aspects of a product or business that influence perceptions. This largely consists of the name, the logo, the packaging, the colors utilized yet can additionally include audio, illumination, texture, signs, actually anything that can be seen, touched or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that focuses on a kind of visual design which helps form the image of a company, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and sales brochures. Some visual designers also design sites and software interfaces. The necessary duty of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of influencing activities, outcomes as well as assumptions.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo style of a bike developed for a Atlantic City coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were opening up in an old part of the community and hoped to visualize an old-fashioned tone without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved each of the jobs via designing a sign design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria designed for Atlantic City medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that analyzes the causes and effects of diseases, especially the field of medicine which deals with the laboratory examination of samplings of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, however it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping environment-friendly frog created for a household fun center in Atlantic City.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for Atlantic City travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead reveal emotional experiences through the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they oftentimes tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo by using the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Atlantic City logo design but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Atlantic City logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I truly enjoy and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A however my customer, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man really loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family did not share his hatred for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get impartial opinions on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to create their logo design understand how essential a logo is for their organization so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo design job has it’s allotment of challenges, however the biggest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo in the background, design for Atlantic City publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped segment of real estate to work with, yet it is the most necessary part of a printed book since it is ordinarily the first thing a person views in the book shop. With respect to a publisher, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo made for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with benches modified to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the traits people often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest fledgling commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a good sense of air travel and it was definitely a victory.

Atlantic City logo design utilized for marketing as well as a label style for Vintage Situation features an old font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could be utilized for anything from a website to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from another era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Atlantic City, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo jobs considering that it appears that every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dentistry logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a design that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design created for a family not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to explain precisely how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If people have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a Atlantic City hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design that conveyed a spirit of contentment and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious course of designing just a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo that implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl featured into the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the logo design with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a business logo is generally the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the focus on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design created for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a unique brand design customized to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With an identifiable head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily recognizable equine lineages in the world.

Las Cafe, A Atlantic City restaurant logo style a little dining establishment, style includes a customized script font which hovers over a group of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo style a little dining establishment, layout contains a changed script typeface which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo style for a software application developer the design features and renowned Atlantic City aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and hard drive management. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software program and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the business owner of the company and in quite a few cases the meaning supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

Develop logo design produced for a Atlantic Cityinterior developer, design function a series of red circles that converge as well as change the letter O in the center of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Atlantic City interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who arranges, investigates, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a diverse occupation that includes conceptual development, area planning, site examinations, programming, research study, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo layout provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Atlantic City, the characters for letter V and A in center of the word progressed have actually been customized to connect straight into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Atlantic City logo design assignment was done for a management expert that enables business leaders to become more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Atlantic City business logo style featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to sell their previously owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Atlantic City logo design using a graphic that captures the attention of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo design MQ farms, this Atlantic City company logo design has an area incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t really composed for an Atlantic City area farm it was really devised for an investments broker, and this trademark was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to produce a graphic that projected esteem, financial success, and opulence.

Atlantic City Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout attribute for ostensibly dealing with arrowhead and the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the liberty to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this case, I hit a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo developed for making use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate manuscript font that is similar to a popular Atlantic City sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked closely with the business owner to design a business logo which worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
