Hoboken Logo Design

Virtually every new Hoboken organization knows they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs fully comprehend the key role their organization logo will play in their success, or why one logo performs far better than another. A business logo has an instant and long-term impact on the growth of a company, select the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, choose the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Hoboken companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos do not require contemplation, they can be understood in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo design will remain legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be ageless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle developed for a Hoboken coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an old part of the area and wished to visualize a nostalgic tone without appearing as boring or low energy. I fulfilled each of the tasks by creating a logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria made for Hoboken clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that analyzes the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the clinical examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the sole instance I remember where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves quite literally, however it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the brand that makes it more interesting, more attention grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo style with a jumping green frog created for a family members fun facility in Hoboken.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy feeling.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fashioned to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - designed for Hoboken traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche area because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead reveal emotional experiences through the images they record. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of the majority of professional photographers in that they frequently share whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Hoboken logo design but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Hoboken logo layout with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design jobs that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I certainly felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the character A but my customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man really despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members did not share his hatred for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a client I encourage all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced viewpoints on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo understand how essential a logo is for their business so they are much more invested in the result. Every logo job possesses it’s share of hurdles, however the largest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Hoboken publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a cramped piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most important part of a printed book due to the fact that it is in most cases the primary thing a person sees in the book store. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the individuals that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it looks like that in many cases 1 of the items individuals often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to affording a feeling of flight and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Hoboken logo layout utilized for advertising and a label style for Vintage Instance features an old typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be much older cases. For this brand concept I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another generation.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Hoboken, design include an arc with lines converging through it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging logo design projects because it seems that every single dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business branding, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dentistry business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a household not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his city. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo to summarize specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that describes itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo design produced for a hair layout workshop featuring a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which carried a feeling of calmness and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a design which didn’t go the obvious path of creating just a stylized orchid but rather crafted a logo design that implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated into the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is generally the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the importance on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Logo layout for a software designer the layout attributes and also iconic element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the owner of the company and in many cases the substance supporting a logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it represents.

A logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly recognized the market was ready for an outdoor sporting store that functions as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a location to market their secondhand goods to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Hoboken logo dsign utilizing an illustration which captures the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo design MQ ranches, this logo style has actually a field incorporated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms custom logo concept wasn’t actually developed for an Hoboken regional farm it was in reality developed for a commodities broker, and this brand was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to make an identity that projected assurance, financial success, and wealth.
Logo made for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font style that is similar to a well-known sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I’ve crafted quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked closely with the proprietor to design a logo design that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
