STRATEGIES FOR IDENTIFYING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot reimburse the amount of time you commit which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but in the end a design firm can only be determined from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t feature real world examples odds are they won’t be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s goal is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to reflect your unique vision for your business. If a designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Plainfield LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping small business owners establish unforgettable brand identities. We’ve performed branding work for builders, educational institutions, heart surgeons, wedding singers, coffee roasters, retailers, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes ImageCo unique compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every branding project as if it will be utilized as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first technique our logo designs can, and have been employed in everything from garment labels to billboards. Our sign first method insures that our logo designs are equally effective whether they are used in TV commercials or web apps, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and always remembered irrespective of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

Something that really sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you might possibly have stumbled upon in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are hired to do, we do ourselves. Regardless of the type of project we accept, brand identity design, website design, trade show display, or retail sign, we do not, and never will job-out our customer’s work to companies located outside the USA. When you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the cost of your design project and determines the terms of how my customers and I do business.

ASPECTS OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Plainfield company understands that they require a logo, yet few start-ups fully grasp the key role their company logo will make in their success, or why one business logo performs better than another. A logo has an instant and sustaining influence on the growth of a company, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life span of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Plainfield companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need contemplation, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from label to posters a scalable logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the item or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a business logo must be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and thirty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the act of denoting something to make sure that it could be identified, its foundation originates from the brand burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand symbolizes practically anything with an objective, whether it be revenue or government agencies, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the value of something in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s attractive sister, they are each from the exact same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition directed at a target audience, it’s goal is to develop a mental image that the target market will likely connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone mentions the brand names Porsche or Mustang what we think of is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people want those products. Brand image is why individuals get most things, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you reflect on the beginning of a lot of branding companies you’ll discover that they are often rebranded marketing firms. When a person states they are in advertising many people will likely have an idea about what they do. However when someone claims “I am in branding”… it just sounds more attractive, possibly it’s since many people don’t understand what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is an inclusive term that describes the visual elements of a product or agency that affect perceptions. This mainly includes the name, the logo, the packaging, the colors used but can additionally consist of audio, lights, texture, signage, really anything that can be seen, felt or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a visual designer that focuses on a type of visual design which helps form the public image of a firm, a product or an organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, as well as collateral material such as business cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some visual designers also build web sites as well as software interfaces. The necessary function of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the goal of influencing activities, outcomes as well as perceptions.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo layout of a bike created for a Plainfield coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an older section of the city and hoped to project an old-fashioned vibe without coming across as uninteresting or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks by means of developing a business logo design that incorporates a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscope slide and bacteria developed for Plainfield medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that investigates the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which works with the laboratory examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the only instance I remember where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be overly literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more captivating, more attention grabbing and much more memorable.

logo layout with a leaping green frog developed for a household enjoyable center in Plainfield.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental professionals, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a few springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t really reflect an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better lively high energy impression.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they utilized for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - made for Plainfield travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche field because travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo concept was to use negative space to convey more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of almost all good photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with just words. I tried to do something the same to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Plainfield logo but also to reveal the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Plainfield logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I seriously relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his aversion for this particular variety of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to talk about it with friends and family as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get objective assessments on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they adored the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a weird creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their business logo comprehend how important a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo design project has it’s allotment of difficulties, however the most significant obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also providing the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, layout for Plainfield publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, but it really is the most essential part of a printed book considering that it is in most cases the very first thing a person views in the bookstore. With respect to a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will ever have to spotlight their brand and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars changed to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it looks like that in many instances one of the things consumers usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of flight and it was definitely a success.

Plainfield logo layout utilized for advertising as well as a tag layout for Vintage Instance features an old-fashioned typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be antique cases. For this logo design I strove to come up with a logo that possessed a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Plainfield, design include an arc with lines converging via it to indicate steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects because it seems that almost every dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to small business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the very same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really enjoy doing dental care logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities surprised in elevation to stand for a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be representative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to summarize how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself will never have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo style created for a Plainfield hair layout studio including a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo design which conveyed a sense of simplicity and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept that didn’t go the obvious path of crafting just a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a logo design that suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the name and by putting emphasis on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is more often than not the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead laid the focus on the feeling that they wanted to transmit to their patrons.

Arabian equine logo layout created for a steed ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a one-of-a-kind business logo concept tailored to manifest the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. By having a different head form and higher tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily identifiable equine breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Plainfield Coffee shop logo style a little restaurant, layout contains a changed manuscript typeface which hovers over a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a tiny restaurant, layout consists of a customized manuscript typeface which hovers over a group of ornate lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software program developer the layout attributes and legendary Plainfield component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the owner of the company and in many cases the substance behind a logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

Develop logo layout produced for a Plainfieldindoor developer, style function a series of red circles that converge and change the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Plainfield interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who arranges, explores, collaborates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a diverse profession that involves conceptual development, area planning, location assessments, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction management, and implementation of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Plainfield, the personalities for letter V and A in center of words advanced have been changed to connect directly into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Plainfield logo design assignment was performed for a leadership expert that enables business professionals to become more successful at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Plainfield business logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly realized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that functions as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a place to market their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Plainfield business logo design with an illustration which seizes the attention of traffic and sends an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Plainfield company logo layout has actually a field included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo design wasn’t really developed for an Plainfield area farm it was actually developed for an investments broker, and this particular logo design was one of a handful of that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to develop a brand mark that projected confidence, effectiveness, and affluence.

Plainfield Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo design feature for outwardly dealing with arrowhead and the arrowheads suggest that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they would like, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it provides a designer the liberty to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without recognizing where exactly the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo made for using a sign for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a well-known Plainfield sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool project in which I worked directly with the business owner to produce a logo which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
