South River Logo Design

Nearly every new South River company understands that they require a logo, yet few new business owners thoroughly realize the essential role their business logo can play in their becoming successful, or the reason that one logo works more effectively than another. A business logo has an instant and lasting effect on the success of a business, select the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life span of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help South River businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t demand deliberation, they can be realized in merely a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable logo will stay legible and equally emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be lasting and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a South River coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening up in an older part of the city and wanted to project a nostalgic tone without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I fulfilled the two tasks via designing a company logo design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

medical logo style with a microscope slide and also bacteria created for South River medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which researches the causes and consequences of diseases, especially the field of medicine which works with the clinical examination of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a degree, this design approaches the company it serves rather literally, however it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more interesting, more attention grabbing and more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog created for a family members fun facility in South River.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the title of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to include a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they utilized for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I did was transformed into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design including a flock of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and also a tree - designed for South River travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead convey emotional experiences through the images they capture. The thought behind this logo design was to use negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of most professional photographers in that they oftentimes share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  South River logo design but also to show the depth in her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

South River logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design jobs that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the customer, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unprejudiced viewpoints on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their business logo realize how important a logo design is for their business so they are much more invested in the final result. Every logo job possesses it’s allotment of challenges, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for South River publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow parcel of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most essential part of a printed book given that it is often the initial thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publishing company, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with the bars changed to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart yet it seems like that in many instances 1 of the items consumers usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline company situated in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to affording a spirit of flight and it was certainly a victory.

South River logo style made use of for marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Situation includes an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for musical instruments, which looked to be vintage cases. For this brand design I sought to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in South River, design include an arc with lines converging via it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects because it seems that each and every dentist features a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logos are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really love doing dental care business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a layout that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo made for a family members nonprofit, the logo features 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the residents in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a unique opportunity to do a logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain precisely how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself won’t have the chance to be understood.

Logo style produced for a hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design that projected a sense of peace and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which didn’t go the obvious direction of creating just a stylized orchid but instead designed a business logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by placing attention on the concept using the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a business logo is oftentimes the wrong direction and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the emphasis on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian steed logo style developed for an equine ranch that specializes in reproducing Arabian program horses.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a unique logotype design tailored to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having an identifiable head form and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily identifiable equine breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a tiny restaurant, style contains a modified manuscript font which hovers above a group of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo layout for a software programmer the style features and iconic component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive operations. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that performs as a bridge in between the software program and computer hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However, it represented something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it stands for.

A logo design including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the founders of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a place to sell their used products to other sports enthusiasts. I created their South River business logo dsign utilizing an illustration that grabs the interest of vehicles and sends an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.
Logo layout MQ farms, this logo design has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t really designed for an South River area farm it was actually created for an investments broker, and this company logo was one of many which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was actually to produce an identity that projects esteem, success, and wealth.
Logo created for making use of an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant script typeface that is similar to a famous sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created quite a lot of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked directly with the proprietor to create a business logo which worked really well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
