POINTERS FOR PICKING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design company presents a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they can’t refund the time you invest which is eminently more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but ultimately a designer can only be evaluated by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t contain real life samples chances are they will never be able to deliver a top quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to mirror your personal vision for your company. If a designer isn’t focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how fast they will get paid.

Union City LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs establish notable brand identities. We have undertaken brand identity design work for mechanics, universities, diamond miners, party planners, bistros, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes ImageCo unique compared to our competitors is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every logo design project as though it will be utilized as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first approach our designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to electrical signs. Our sign first approach insures that our logo designs are equally reliable whether they are used in television commercials or web apps, they are consistently recognizable, understood, and remembered regardless of scale or application.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which really sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you might have encountered in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every design project we are contracted to perform, we perform ourselves. No matter the kind of project we accept, logo design, website, trade show display, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s projects to companies located outside the USA. When you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the cost of your project and imposes the terms of how we do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Union City organization understands that they need a logo, however few new business owners thoroughly grasp the crucial role their business logo can make in their financial success, or precisely why one logo works more effectively than another. A business logo has an instant and long-term effect on the financial success of a company, pick the correct one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a business. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Union City businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need scrutiny, they can be comprehended in merely a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to retail signs a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at every dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be lasting and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb as well as a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the process of denoting something so that it can be identified, its genesis comes from the brand burned onto livestock. These days a brand signifies basically anything with an intention, whether it be revenue or government agencies, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the value of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s sexy cousin, they are all from the very same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition directed at a target market, it’s goal is to create an image that the audience can identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When someone mentions the names Ferrari or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can transport us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and that is what makes people purchase those brands. Brand image is why individuals buy specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the history of many branding companies you’ll discover that they are often re-branded advertising and marketing agencies. When somebody states they are in advertising and marketing the majority of people will likely have an idea about what they do. But when somebody says “I’m in branding”… it simply seems more attractive, possibly it’s due to the fact that many people don’t recognize what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and perhaps even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that defines the visual components of a product or business that affect perceptions. This primarily includes the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors utilized however can additionally include audio, illumination, texture, signs, really anything that can be seen, touched or listened to become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a designer that focuses on a type of visual design that helps form the image of a firm, a product or a business. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and also pamphlets. Some identity designers also build websites and user interfaces. The essential role of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of affecting actions, results and understandings.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Union City coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and bistro were launching in an old part of the community and wished to project an old-fashioned vibe without coming across as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both of these tasks by developing a custom logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria created for Union City clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which analyzes the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that deals with the laboratory assessment of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that helps make it more appealing, more interest grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo style with a leaping eco-friendly frog designed for a family fun facility in Union City.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of jobs that come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and a tree - designed for Union City traveling digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers don’t shoot places or things but instead communicate emotional experiences by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to reveal more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they often share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be communicated with just words. I tried to do something comparable to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Union City logo design but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Union City logo design with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the customer, even though he liked the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man genuinely loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I encourage them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t even know so as to get unprejudiced judgements on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his whole family and they really loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to design their business logo understand how important a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo design job has it’s portion of obstacles, however the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Union City book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most necessary part of a printed book due to the fact that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the book store. With regard to a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will likely ever get to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that purchase actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo created for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo has two letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go nevertheless it seems like that in many cases 1 of the items individuals usually tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a modest new venture commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was certainly a success.

Union City logo style used for marketing as well as a tag design for Vintage Case includes an antiquated font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand-new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be much older cases. For this custom logo design I tried to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo created for an orthodontist in Union City, design consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo jobs considering that it appears that virtually every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dentistry logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a brand identity design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be very literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wishes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that describes itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo design created for a Union City hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird and a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo that projected a spirit of tranquility and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept that didn’t go the obvious direction of creating simply a stylized orchid but instead crafted a company logo that suggested a flower in the formation of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is more often than not the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead placed the attention on the feeling that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian steed logo design created for an equine ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed an original creative logo design fashioned to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of equines. By having an unique head shape and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most easily recognizable equine breeds in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Union City restaurant logo design a little dining establishment, layout consists of a modified script typeface which floats over a group of elaborate lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a small restaurant, design contains a changed script font which floats above a team of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo layout for a software program programmer the style features and famous Union City aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and hard drive managing. The kernel connects the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a number of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the owner of the company and in many cases the meaning supporting a logo design is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

Progress logo style developed for a Union Cityinterior designer, style feature a collection of red circles that converge and replace the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Union City interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is someone who organizes, explores, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that involves conceptual development, area planning, site assessments, programming, research, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Union City, the personalities for letter V and also A in middle of words progressed have actually been changed to tie straight into words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Union City logo design assignment was undertaken for a leadership specialist that aids business leaders to develop into more effective at handling people, expectations, and profitability.

A Union City business logo layout featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment firm. Whether you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a place to sell their previously owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Union City business logo design along with a graphic which garners the attention of traffic and projects an image that calls to mind the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo style MQ ranches, this Union City company logo style has actually a field included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t actually created for an Union City regional farm it was in reality devised for an investments broker, and this particular company logo was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to make an identity that projected esteem, financial success, and prosperity.

Union City Logo design for a not-for-profit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo layout function for ostensibly encountering arrow and the arrowheads imply that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they preferred, that can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the liberty to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the very first go.

Logo designed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script typeface that is reminiscent of a renowned Union City sports group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked directly with the business owner to create a logo design which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
