POINTERS ON FINDING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so when a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot reimburse the time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but inevitably a design agency can only be evaluated from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio does not contain actual samples odds are they will never be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s goal is to reflect your unique vision for your business. If a logo designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Binghamton LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds establish memorable brand identities. We’ve done branding work for ranchers, universities, diamond miners, party planners, coffee shops, retailers, and just about every other kind of business concern you can imagine. What makes us unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we approach every brand identity project as if it will be utilized as an electric sign. Because of our sign first approach our logo designs can, and have been used in everything from clothing labels to electrical signs. Our sign first technique guarantees that our logo designs are just as effective whether they are used in TV commercials or website headers, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and always remembered no matter of size or use.

American Made ★ Design

Something which seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you might possibly have stumbled upon online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are contracted to do, we perform in-house. Regardless of the type of project we accept, business logo, web site, trade show exhibit, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will contract out our customer’s projects to 3rd parties located outside the USA. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the cost of your project and imposes the terms of how my customers and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

Every new Binghamton company understands that they need a logo, but few new business owners entirely comprehend the key role their business logo will play in their becoming successful, or the reason that one business logo performs better than another. A business logo has an instant and lasting effect on the success of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the wrong one and it will be a barrier and an impediment for the life of a company. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Binghamton businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from clothing labels to retail signs a scalable logo will remain legible and equally emotive at every size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel personal, and they are suitable for the product or business they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo needs to be ageless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the act of denoting something to ensure that it could be distinguished, its genesis comes from the brand burned onto animals. Nowadays a brand indicates virtually anything with a motive, whether it be revenue or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the value of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s attractive sister, they are both from the same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest directed at a target market, it’s objective is to produce a mental image that the target market can identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone states the brand names Porsche or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and that is what makes individuals purchase those brands. Brand image is why individuals identify with most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the beginning of many branding companies you’ll discover that they are frequently re-branded advertising and marketing companies. When a person says they are in marketing most individuals will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designer
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a type of visual design which helps form the perception of a company, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and also brochures. Some visual designers also build web sites as well as user interfaces. The crucial function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of influencing activities, end results and assumptions.

Featured SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo design of a bike developed for a Binghamton coffee cafe and also a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and bistro were launching in an older section of the community and hoped to cast a nostalgic vibe without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved both tasks by means of developing a trademark design that includes a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and bacteria designed for Binghamton clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that studies the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare which deals with the laboratory assessment of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind where I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more intriguing, more interest grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping environment-friendly frog designed for a family members enjoyable facility in Binghamton.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental experts, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring does not really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for Binghamton travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead communicate emotional journeys through the images they record. The thought behind this logo design was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon initial view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of good photographers in that they oftentimes share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by using the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Binghamton logo but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Binghamton logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of custom logo design jobs that I take on I seriously enjoy and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the letter A but the client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a design over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased opinions on the value of a design concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a weird animal in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo design comprehend how essential a logo is for their company so they are much more invested in the end result. Every logo project has it’s share of hurdles, however the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, layout for Binghamton publication publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender parcel of real estate to work with, however it is the most important part of a published book since it is usually the very first thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will ever have to advertise their product and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches modified to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many instances 1 of the items people often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their custom logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a spirit of flight and it was surely a success.

Binghamton logo style utilized for advertising and marketing as well as a tag layout for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned font style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be vintage cases. For this business logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from another generation.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Binghamton, design include an arc with lines intersecting through it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can easily be one of the most difficult logo jobs due to the fact that it seems that virtually every dental professional incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the most cliche ridden fields when it comes to company branding, if dining establishments approached their branding in the same way dental offices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would most likely include an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo design nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really love doing dental care logo designs because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a particular area of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the concept. When I turned this particular concept over to the client the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the families in his city. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy technique to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wishes to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The aim of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to explain specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo design produced for a Binghamton hair layout studio featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as a suggested orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo that communicated a spirit of contentment and connection for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious route of creating merely a stylized orchid but instead designed a business logo which implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the image itself. The obvious path in creating a company logo is frequently the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the importance on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo layout developed for an equine cattle ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a distinct business logo concept tailored to embody the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. By having an unique head shape and high tail carriage, the Arabian is one of the most easily recognizable equine breeds in the world.

Las Cafe, A Binghamton restaurant logo layout a small restaurant, design consists of a changed script typeface which floats above a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a tiny dining establishment, layout contains a changed manuscript font style which floats above a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software application programmer the design attributes and also legendary Binghamton aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk operations. The kernel unites the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a connection between the software and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it symbolized something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the enterprise it stands for.

Advance logo layout developed for a Binghamtonindoor designer, design function a series of red circles that intersect and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Binghamton interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who organizes, explores, collaborates, and manages such ventures. Interior design is a multifaceted profession that involves conceptual development, space planning, location evaluations, programming, investigation, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo design provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Binghamton, the characters for letter V and A in center of the word advanced have actually been changed to link directly into the words below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Binghamton logo design assignment was undertaken for a leadership expert that aids business leaders to develop into more efficient at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Binghamton business logo design including an angler in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of interests, a location to market their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Binghamton logo design with an illustration which garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages 45 mph I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and peaceful habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Binghamton company logo layout has actually a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really designed for an Binghamton regional farm it was actually created for a commodities broker, and this particular company logo was one of a handful of which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was actually to develop an identity that projects esteem, effectiveness, and wealth.

Binghamton Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo style function for ostensibly facing arrowhead and the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design they desired, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the opportunity to delve into any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the 1st go.

Logo design developed for making use of an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is reminiscent of a well-known Binghamton sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking where I worked directly with the proprietor to produce a logo that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
