Memorable Logos That Tell Stories and Connect Emotionally

Crafting a brand identity or a business logo that is both memorable and expresses the story of who you are or what you actually do is a monumental endeavor. The difficulty is to generate a design concept that is simplistic enough to be comprehended at a glance and conveys enough information that it can express who you are. However no logo design can absolutely tell your story or summarize your business, and travelling down that road often makes for a logo design that does neither. Although, in skillful hands, it is quite possible to strike a balance between both and create a brand identity that both informs and emotes and reaching that sweet spot is what your business should wish for from their brand identity designer.

ImageCo is one person, Tim Garner, I am a free lance branding professional. For over two decades I have been designing unforgettable logos and brand identity designs that tell stories and resonate with clients. However don’t take my word for it, check out my logo portfolio and discover for yourself. I do not assert to be the greatest brand identity designer in the world, however, I do know what I’m doing and my customers tend to agree.

A LOGO IS NOT YOUR BRAND

The expression “your logo is not your brand” is a statement that is often stated with such emphasis by individuals working in the branding sector, that a person has to wonder why so many people in branding agencies despise logos as much as they seem to. It is definitely true that your logo is not your business’s brand, however what does that mean for a business that has no logo? One thing is quite certain, it guarantees that a brand with no logo will be faceless and quickly forgotten.

Without a logo, a business’s brand is nothing more than a fading memory because consumers would have virtually nothing to anchor their brand experiences too.

Some compare a business’s logo to a smile or a handshake which is slightly true, however it’s actually much more than that. A logo is a brand’s anchor and it also serves as the cornerstone of an organization’s brand image. A logo functions as an anchor due to the fact that the entire brand experience is anchored to it. It is also a brand’s cornerstone, since a cornerstone is the first stone laid when constructing the foundation of the structure above it, and once laid it will be the guiding reference point for every building block that comes after it. A logo works in the same way, it is a foundational element that supports the organization it represents, and it also serves as a reference that helps guide a brand as it grows.

ImageCo is a visual branding firm and our goal is to assist our customers lay that cornerstone as well as drop that anchor. We help organizations look more established, more refined, and more professional. This helps ensure that our clients will always stand out, and are not only deserving of a seat at the table, but look like they should be seated at the head of that table.

Brownsville LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping business owners grow memorable brand identities. We’ve undertaken logo design work for builders, universities, diamond miners, wedding singers, coffee roasters, retailers, and practically every other kind of business you can envision. What makes ImageCo unique compared to our contemporaries is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every logo design project as if it will be employed as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first strategy our brand identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first method insures that our logo designs are just as effective whether they are used in television commercials or web applications, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and remembered irrespective of size or application.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which really sets ImageCo apart from other design agencies that you may have encountered on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are retained to do, we do ourselves. No matter the kind of design project we undertake, business logo, web site, trade show display, or retail sign, we do not, and never will farm out our customer’s projects to contractors based outside the United States. Whenever you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a middleman that marks up the price of your project and determines the terms of how my customers and I do business.

ASPECTS OF A GOOD LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Brownsville entrepreneur knows they require a logo, yet few start ups thoroughly understand the crucial role their company logo will make in their success, or exactly why one logo functions far better than another. A logo has an immediate and long term impact on the prosperity of a business, select the right one and it can make the door swing and cash register ring, choose the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a company.

The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Brownsville companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five things in common.

  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need deliberation, they can be comprehended in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from label to retail signs a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo design must be timeless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark and also the act of denoting something to ensure that it can be distinguished, its foundation originates from the mark branded onto livestock. Nowadays a brand signifies virtually anything with a motive, whether it be profit or politics, a brand is an innate aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy cousin, they are both from the same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest aimed at a target market, it’s objective is to produce a mental image that the audience will identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When a person says the names Porsche or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, beauty, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people want those brands. Brand image is why individuals purchase specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the history of many branding companies you’ll discover that they are often re-branded marketing firms. When someone claims they are in advertising and marketing many people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. However when a person says “I am in branding”… it just seems more attractive, possibly it’s due to the fact that lots of people don’t know what it indicates to be in branding so it comes off as mysterious and perhaps even attractive.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that describes the visual aspects of a product or agency that influence view points. This largely includes the name, the logo design, the packaging, the colors used but can likewise include sound, lights, texture, signage, really anything that can be seen, felt or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that concentrates on a kind of visual design which helps shape the perception of a firm, a product or a company. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and also collateral products such as business cards, stationery, as well as brochures. Some identity designers also build sites and also user interfaces. The crucial role of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and also an emotional tone with the goal of affecting actions, results and also understandings.

Featured signs/logos

Retro logo style of a bike created for a Brownsville coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This fledgling coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually launching in an older section of town and hoped to project a vintage tone without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks via creating a business logo design that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo layout with a microscopic lense slide and germs created for Brownsville medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the root causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that deals with the clinical examination of specimens of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is the only instance I call to mind where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a degree, this design approaches the company it represents rather literally, yet it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog designed for a family members fun center in Brownsville.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for surgeons, dental professionals, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a better enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a mountain, a path, a stream, and also a tree - developed for Brownsville traveling professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche field due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to shoot locations or things but rather reveal emotional journeys by means of the photos they capture. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is quintessential of most good photographers in that they frequently tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey much more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be revealed with mere words. I attempted to do something very similar to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Brownsville logo design but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Brownsville logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I truly take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, however the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however the customer, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family did not share his contempt for this specific breed of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to talk about it with friends and family members as well as with folks that they don’t even know so as to get impartial judgements on the benefit of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his family members and they really loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire a professional to create their logo design comprehend how vital a logo is for their business so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo design project has it’s share of obstacles, however the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Brownsville book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow slice of real estate to work with, however it really is the most important part of a published book considering that it is often the initial thing a person sees in the book shop. With regard to a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity they will likely ever get to spotlight their product and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of territory for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it looks like that in many instances 1 of the items folks often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline based in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their custom logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a spirit of airline flight and it was certainly a winner.

Brownsville logo design used for advertising and also a label layout for Vintage Situation features an antiquated typeface style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, which seemed to be antique cases. For this logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could be utilized for everything from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different era.

Logo design developed for an orthodontist in Brownsville, style consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental care logo designs can be one of the most challenging logo jobs considering that it appears that almost every dental professional integrates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dentists do every one of their company logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I actually love doing dental care logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the customer the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a family nonprofit, the logo design features 4 personalities staggered in height to represent a family unit with in the layout.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his city. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to explain specifically how people ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly comprehended and a logo design that describes itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo layout produced for a Brownsville hair layout studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo that conveyed a spirit of ease and connection for their new hair salon. I created a design which did not go the obvious path of designing simply a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo design that suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the image itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is generally the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the focus on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their customers.

Arabian equine logo layout produced for a horse ranch that focuses on breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a one-of-a-kind creative logo concept styled to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of equines. With a distinctive head form and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most quite easily recognizable horse types in the world.

Las Cafe, A Brownsville restaurant logo style a little restaurant, layout consists of a customized manuscript font style which hovers above a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo style a little restaurant, layout contains a modified manuscript font style which floats above a group of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software program developer the design features as well as famous Brownsville element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel unites the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that acts as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to explain anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance behind a logo design is equally as important as how it serves the company it represents.

Advance logo style developed for a Brownsvilleinterior designer, design feature a collection of red circles that intersect and replace the letter O in the center of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Brownsville interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is somebody who arranges, explores, coordinates, and manages such tasks. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that involves conceptual development, area planning, location evaluations, programming, research study, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Brownsville, the characters for letter V and also A in middle of the word progressed have been customized to connect straight into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Brownsville logo design project was undertaken for a management coach that assists business leaders to become more successful at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Brownsville business logo layout featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the audience.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment firm. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to sell their previously owned items to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Brownsville business logo design along with an image which seizes the interest of traffic and sends an image that wakens the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Brownsville company logo style has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t actually developed for an Brownsville regional farm it was in reality designed for a products broker, and this particular logo was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The objective was really to create a graphic that projects trust, success, and wealth.

Brownsville Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo style function for outwardly facing arrow as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what type of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without knowing where exactly the target is. Luckily, in this case, I nailed a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design developed for using an indication for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a famous Brownsville sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant logo designs and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to develop a logo design that worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
