POINTERS ON PICKING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they can’t reimburse the amount of time you commit which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but in the end a designer can only be determined from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t feature actual samples odds are they will not be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be recognized and remembered, and it’s goal is to reflect your unique vision for your organization. If a logo designer is not focused on fulfilling your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how soon they will get paid.

Gravesend LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping start ups and entrepreneurs cultivate unforgettable brands. We’ve performed branding work for farmers, educational institutions, diamond miners, party planners, coffee shops, retailers, and just about every other kind of business concern you can think of. What makes ImageCo unique compared to traditional designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every branding project as though it will be employed as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first technique our designs can, and have been used in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique guarantees that our logos are just as effective whether they are used in television commercials or website apps, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and always remembered no matter of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The one difference which seriously sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you might have encountered in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are enlisted to perform, we perform ourselves. Regardless of the kind of project we take on, logo design, website design, trade show exhibit, or electric sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our client’s projects to companies based outside the US. When you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the phone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that increases the cost of your project and dictates the terms of how you and I do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Gravesend organization understands that they require a logo, however few start ups entirely recognize the pivotal role their company logo will make in their becoming successful, or exactly why one logo design performs more effectively than another. A logo has an instant and sustaining effect on the prosperity of a business, pick the right one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Gravesend businesses succeed, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need consideration, they can be comprehended in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to billboards a scalable logo design will continue to be legible and just as emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that function on any type of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the product or company they brand.
  5. Relevance: a business logo should be lasting and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb as well as a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of noting something so that it could be recognized, its genesis originates from the mark burned onto livestock. Nowadays a brand symbolizes virtually anything with a motive, regardless if it be profit or political parties, a brand is an inherent aspect of specifying the value of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are each from the same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity competition aimed at a specific audience, it’s goal is to create an image that the audience can identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing and also identity design. When someone states the brand names Lamborghini or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the the mental image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why people purchase specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can identify with.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the beginning of a lot of branding firms you’ll find that they are frequently re-branded advertising firms. When a person claims they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or heard become part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps form the image of a company, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers develop logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and collateral products such as business cards, stationery, and sales brochures. Some visual designers also build sites and also user interfaces. The vital role of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues and a psychological tone with the objective of influencing activities, outcomes and also assumptions.

Featured SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Gravesend coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffeehouse were actually opening up in an old part of the town and hoped to project a vintage vibe without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I accomplished both of these jobs by designing a business logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

clinical logo style with a microscope slide and bacteria made for Gravesend medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that examines the triggers and effects of diseases, especially the branch of healthcare that works with the clinical evaluation of specimens of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic objectives.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is the only instance I recall where I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be overly literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, yet it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the brand that makes it more captivating, more focus grabbing and even more meaningful.

logo design with a jumping environment-friendly frog created for a family members fun facility in Gravesend.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dentists, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the title of the business has the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to integrate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a more enthusiastic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Gravesend travel professional photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but instead reveal emotional journeys through the images they record. The idea behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon initial glance, which I think is representative of most good photographers in that they frequently share entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something comparable to this logo by utilizing the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Gravesend logo but also to reveal the depth in her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Gravesend logo layout with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of logo design projects that I take on I seriously savor and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A but the client, while he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his hatred for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with other people that they don’t even know so as to get objective opinions on the merit of a design concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his family members and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that tend to hire a professional to design their business logo recognize how essential a logo is for their organization so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo job has it’s share of obstacles, however the most significant challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Gravesend book author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, yet it is the most vital part of a published book due to the fact that it is ordinarily the first thing a person sees in the bookstore. Concerning a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity they will likely ever have to promote their product and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design created for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it seems like that in many instances 1 of the things consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small startup commuter/shuttle airline company based in LA and although I’m not sure it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a spirit of air travel and it was undoubtedly a success.

Gravesend logo design made use of for advertising and marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Case includes an old-fashioned font layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in all new cases for musical instruments, that seemed to be vintage cases. For this brand design I attempted to come up with a logo that provided a fluid old style feel to it and could easily be utilized for everything from a website to an insignia on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another era.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Gravesend, style include an arc with lines intersecting through it to indicate metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can be one of the most challenging and difficult logo projects due to the fact that it appears that every single dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if restaurants approached their branding in the very same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental industry.

I really enjoy doing dentist logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and eventually I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters startled in elevation to represent a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy method to any logo design is to be overly literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo to summarize how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a Gravesend hair design workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird and also an implied orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios wanted a logo that conveyed a spirit of simplicity and elegance for their new hair studio. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious route of designing merely a stylized orchid but instead designed a logo design that implied an orchid in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept along with the silhouette of a hummingbird hovering above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo design is in most cases the wrong course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but instead put the focus on the emotion that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design created for an equine cattle ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo created a one-of-a-kind organization logo design fashioned to exemplify the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. With an unique head form and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly immediately identifiable equine lineages in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Gravesend Coffee shop logo layout a tiny dining establishment, design consists of a changed script font which floats above a group of ornate lines as well as dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo design a tiny restaurant, design consists of a customized script font which hovers above a group of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo style for a software program designer the style features and also iconic Gravesend aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it represented something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the substance supporting a business logo is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Advance logo layout created for a Gravesendindoor designer, style feature a collection of red circles that converge and also replace the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Gravesend interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who plans, researches, coordinates, and oversees such projects. Interior design is a diverse profession that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location evaluations, programming, research study, communicating with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo layout done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Gravesend, the personalities for letter V as well as A in middle of the word advanced have been customized to link directly into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Gravesend logo design job was completed for a leadership expert that assists business leaders to develop into more successful at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Gravesend business logo layout featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a place to sell off their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Gravesend logo design design utilizing a graphic that seizes the interest of vehicles and sends an image that calls to mind the passion of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo layout MQ farms, this Gravesend company logo layout has actually a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t really created for an Gravesend area farm it was actually created for a products broker, and this brand was one of multiple that fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The goal was actually to develop a graphic that projected trust, effectiveness, and wealth.

Gravesend Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Point Solutions - the logo style feature for ostensibly encountering arrow and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the flexibility to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye without understanding where the target is. Luckily, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo made for using an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is evocative a renowned Gravesend sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant business logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to create a logo that worked extremely well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage that hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
