POINTERS ON IDENTIFYING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A business logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm offers a money back guarantee try to remember that they simply cannot reimburse the time you commit which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but in the end a designer can only be evaluated by the quality of their design work, if the work in their design portfolio does not contain actual examples odds are they will not be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s objective is to be understood and remembered, and it’s purpose is to echo your unique vision for your business. If a designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how quickly they can get paid.

Holbrook LOGO DESIGN

For over two decades ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs cultivate memorable brands. We have performed brand identity design work for mechanics, colleges, diamond miners, wedding singers, restaurants, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business you can imagine. What makes ImageCo different compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as though it will be employed as an electric sign. As a result of our sign first technique our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique ensures that our logo designs are equally successful whether they are used in television commercials or website applications, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and always remembered regardless of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

Something which truly sets ImageCo apart from other design firms that you might possibly have found online, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are contracted to do, we do in-house. Regardless of the kind of design project we take on, business logo, website design, trade show exhibition, or electric sign, we do not, and never will job out our customer’s projects to organizations located outside the United States. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that marks up the price of your design project and determines the terms of how you and I conduct business.

ASPECTS OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Virtually every new Holbrook organization realizes that they probably need a logo, but few start-ups entirely comprehend the essential role their logo can play in their becoming successful, or precisely why one logo performs better than another. A company logo has an instant and long-term impact on the prosperity of a company, choose the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and a hindrance for the life of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Holbrook businesses succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require consideration, they can be understood in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable logo design will remain legible and equally emotive at any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the item or organization they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be ageless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s both a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the act of noting something to make sure that it could be recognized, its genesis originates from the brand burned onto livestock. These days a brand represents pretty much anything with an intention, regardless of whether it be profit or politics, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the customer’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like marketing and advertising’s attractive cousin, they are each from the exact same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s objective is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition targeted at a target market, it’s goal is to produce a mental image that the target market will likely relate to.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured by advertising and marketing and identity design. When someone states the names Porsche or Mustang what we consider is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a car with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and exotic . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals buy those brands. Brand image is why individuals buy most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you look back at the history of many branding firms you’ll discover that they are often re-branded marketing and advertising firms. When somebody says they are in advertising and marketing most individuals will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, touched or heard are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a kind of visual design that helps shape the public image of a firm, a product or a company. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, packaging, and collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and also brochures. Some identity designers also design web sites and also software interfaces. The necessary duty of a brand identity designer is to develop the visual cues as well as an emotional tone with the objective of influencing activities, outcomes as well as assumptions.

select SIGNS & LOGOS

Retro logo style of a bicycle created for a Holbrook coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening in an old part of the city and wanted to visualize a retro feel without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled both of these tasks by means of developing a custom logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs developed for Holbrook medical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the causes and effects of diseases, mainly the branch of healthcare that deals with the clinical evaluation of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the only instance I remember where I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves very literally, but it does it in a fashion that incorporates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more interesting, more interest grabbing and much more memorable.

logo design with a jumping green frog designed for a household fun center in Holbrook.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the sorts of jobs that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental offices, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the company features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a few springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, ultimately I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the name itself to give the logo a much more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was transformed into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Holbrook traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche profession due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but instead project emotional experiences by means of the photos they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of most professional photographers in that they often share entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey significantly more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I tried to do something very similar to this logo design by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Holbrook logo but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Holbrook logo design with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I genuinely take pleasure in and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A however the customer, even though he liked the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This guy seriously loathed seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, thankfully the rest of his family members didn’t share his hatred for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage them to discuss it with friends and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased point of views on the worthiness of a design concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they really liked the concept and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his choice of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Business logos are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire an expert to create their logo realize how essential a logo design is for their business so they are way more vested in the final result. Every logo design job has it’s portion of obstacles, however the most significant obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a company and also providing the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo in the background, design for Holbrook publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most necessary part of a published book since it is usually the first thing a person sees in the book shop. Concerning a publisher, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever get to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This 3 color design is vivid, colorful and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with benches modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go yet it looks like that in many occurrences 1 of the items people tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle airline situated in LA and while I’m not sure it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to conferring a sense of air travel and it was certainly a victory.

Holbrook logo style made use of for marketing and also a label style for Vintage Situation features an old-fashioned font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case focused in new cases for music instruments, that seemed to be vintage cases. For this logo concept I strove to come up with a logo that had a fluid nostalgic feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from another point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Holbrook, style include an arc with lines intersecting with it to indicate steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs because it appears that every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their company logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely contain an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I actually love doing dental logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical course of action that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics delivered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a layout that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the design. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a family members not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a unique opportunity to do a logo that communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The objective of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to illustrate specifically how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to think about a logo to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo that illustrates itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo style created for a Holbrook hair design studio including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design that projected a feeling of ease and elegance for their new hair studio. I created a design that did not go the obvious course of designing merely a stylized orchid but alternatively crafted a business logo which implied a flower in the pattern of a swirl blended in to the letter O in the title and by putting attention on the concept using the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo design itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is oftentimes the incorrect course and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead put the importance on the feeling that they wanted to project to their patrons.

Arabian steed logo design produced for a horse ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian program steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo crafted a distinct brand design tailored to symbolize the unique physical traits of the Arabian type of equines. By having an identifiable head shape and higher tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly immediately recognizable equine lineages in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Holbrook restaurant logo design a small restaurant, style consists of a customized script font which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Cafe logo layout a small dining establishment, design includes a customized script font style which hovers over a group of luxuriant lines and dots.

Logo style for a software application programmer the design functions and also iconic Holbrook component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that behaves as a connection in between the software and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it symbolized something to the business owner of the business and in many cases the symbolism supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the company it represents.

Progress logo layout created for a Holbrookindoor designer, style attribute a series of red circles that intersect and replace the letter O in the middle of the logo style.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Holbrook interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who arranges, researches, coordinates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a diverse occupation that includes conceptual development, area planning, location inspections, programming, research, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and execution of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Holbrook, the characters for letter V and also A in middle of the word advanced have actually been customized to link directly into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Holbrook logo design job was performed for a leadership expert that aids business leaders to become more successful at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Holbrook business logo design including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year offering supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of passions, a location to sell their pre-owned goods to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Holbrook logo design with an illustration which garners the interest of traffic and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages 45 miles per hour I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo layout MQ ranches, this Holbrook company logo layout has actually an area included into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand concept wasn’t really created for an Holbrook area farm it was really developed for a commodities broker, and this brand was one of multiple that fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to create a brand mark that projected self-confidence, financial success, and luxury.

Holbrook Logo design for a not-for-profit, Transforming Point Solutions - the logo style function for ostensibly facing arrow and also the arrowheads indicate that it is a diamond shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was totally open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it gives a designer the flexibility to investigate any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye in the absence of understanding where the target is. Thankfully, in this particular instance, I nailed a bullseye with the very first try.

Logo created for using an indicator for the restaurant (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is similar to a renowned Holbrook sporting activities team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have designed dozens of restaurant custom logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the United States, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat project where I worked closely with the proprietor to design a logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
