POINTERS FOR FINDING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so anytime a design firm presents a money back guarantee try to remember that they can not reimburse the time you invest which is eminently more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some designers talk a good game but inevitably a design agency can only be determined by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio does not feature real world examples chances are they won’t be able to deliver a quality logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be recognized and be unforgettable, and it’s goal is to mirror your personal vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on actualizing your vision, the thing they are really focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Huntington LOGO DESIGN

For over 2 decades ImageCo has been helping business owners establish notable brand identities. We’ve undertaken branding work for builders, schools, heart surgeons, wedding singers, cafes, retail stores, and virtually every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes us unique compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every logo design project as though it will be employed as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first method our identity designs can, and have been used in everything from clothing labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique insures that our logo designs are just as effective whether they are used in TV commercials or website headers, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and always remembered irrespective of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing which truly sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you might possibly have stumbled upon in Google’s search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every design project we are retained to do, we do ourselves. Irrespective of the type of design project we accept, logo, website, trade show banners, or electrical sign, we do not, and never will job-out our client’s work to companies based outside the USA. Whenever you phone us at 1-855-IMAGECO the individual that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a broker that increases the cost of your design project and dictates the conditions of how you and I conduct business.

QUALITIES OF AN EFFECTIVE LOGO DESIGN

Nearly every new Huntington entrepreneur understands that they probably need a logo, yet few start ups entirely recognize the vital role their organization’s logo will play in their success, or exactly why one business logo performs more effectively than another. A logo has an immediate and sustaining influence on the viability of a business, select the right one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, select the wrong one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of an organization. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Huntington businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 things in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t require deliberation, they can be grasped in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable business logo will stay legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which function on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel right, and they are suitable for the item or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be timeless and will feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

understanding branding

Brand – It’s a verb and a noun, it’s an identifying mark and the process of noting something so that it could be recognized, its genesis originates from the mark burned onto livestock. These days a brand signifies virtually anything with an objective, regardless if it be revenue or government agencies, a brand is an intrinsic aspect of defining the worth of something in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like marketing and advertising’s sexy sister, they are both from the exact same family, the distinction being that marketing and advertising are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a calculated popularity contest targeted at a target audience, it’s objective is to develop an image that the target market will likely identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and nurtured through advertising and marketing and identity design. When someone says the names Ferrari or Corvette what we consider is their brand image, it’s a picture that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can move us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes individuals purchase those products. Brand image is why individuals purchase specific brands, from Pepsi to Coke Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that we can relate to.

Branding Agencies – If you look back at the origin of most branding agencies you’ll discover that they are frequently re-branded advertising companies. When someone states they are in advertising and marketing lots of people will likely have a preconceived notion about what they do. But when a person claims “I am in branding”… it just sounds more impressive, perhaps it’s since lots of people don’t know what it implies to be in branding so it comes off as more mysterious and perhaps even sexy.

Brand Identity – Is a comprehensive term that defines the visual aspects of a product or agency that influence understandings. This mainly consists of the name, the logo design, the product packaging, the colors used but can likewise consist of sound, lights, texture, signs, really anything that can be seen, felt or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a kind of visual design which helps form the public image of a business, a product or a business organization. Brand identity designers produce logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, and also collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and sales brochures. Some visual designers also build websites and user interfaces. The vital function of a brand identity designer is to create the visual cues and an emotional tone with the objective of influencing actions, results and perceptions.

Featured logos & signs

Retro logo layout of a bicycle produced for a Huntington coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening in an older section of town and wanted to project a nostalgic vibe without coming across as stodgy or low energy. I achieved each of the tasks via developing a trademark design that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a timeless business image.

medical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs created for Huntington clinical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which analyzes the root causes and consequences of diseases, mainly the branch of medicine that deals with the laboratory evaluation of samples of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I recall where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Usually I try not to be extremely literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more interesting, more attention grabbing and a lot more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping eco-friendly frog made for a family members enjoyable facility in Huntington.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental professionals, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to integrate a handful of springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun place to go and spring doesn’t actually resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, inevitably I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better dynamic high energy atmosphere.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had an employee costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

photography logo featuring a group of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, and also a tree - made for Huntington travel photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but instead convey emotional experiences through the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often tell entire stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a great deal more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness which can’t be communicated with mere words. I made an effort to do something very similar to this logo design by using the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was conveyed through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Huntington logo design but also to show the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Huntington logo style with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The lion’s share of logo design projects that I take on I seriously relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the character A however the customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This man seriously hated seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his friends and family did not share his hatred for this specific kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge all of them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral opinions on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they loved the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original design.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo comprehend how vital a logo design is for their company so they are much more invested in the outcome. Every logo design job possesses it’s share of challenges, however the greatest challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo design with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Huntington publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender slice of real estate to work with, yet it is the most necessary part of a published book given that it is usually the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. Concerning a publisher, it’s the most ideal opportunity they will ever have to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the people that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of space for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go yet it seems that in many occurrences one of the traits consumers often tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a small new venture commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their organization logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to affording a sense of flight and it was definitely a victory.

Huntington logo style used for advertising and marketing as well as a label design for Vintage Case includes an antiquated font style layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in all new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be vintage cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could be used for anything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different point in time.

Logo produced for an orthodontist in Huntington, layout consist of an arc with lines converging via it to suggest metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental business logos can easily be one of the most challenging and difficult logo design jobs considering that it appears that each and every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the exact same way dental practitioners do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would most likely contain a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo but it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really love doing dentist logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a certain area of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and ultimately I created a concept that does not have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the client the only smile that was obvious was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design developed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design features 4 personalities staggered in height to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to relate.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a custom logo design that conveyed that they were about families without being overtly tacky about it. The intention of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer attempts to use the logo design to explain precisely how people should think or feel they don’t understand the mission of a logo. If viewers have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has been in vain, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo that explains itself will never have the chance to be understood.

Logo style developed for a Huntington hair style studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a logo which projected a spirit of serenity and class for their new hair studio. I created a design which did not go the obvious route of designing simply a stylized orchid but alternatively delivered a business logo that suggested an orchid in the formation of a swirl blended into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in creating a logo is generally the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately put the importance on the perception that they wanted to forecast to their clients.

Arabian horse logo style produced for a horse ranch that concentrates on breeding Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed an original company logo design styled to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian pedigree of horses. By having an unique head shape and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the very most quite easily recognizable equine breeds in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Huntington restaurant logo layout a little restaurant, style contains a changed manuscript font style which hovers over a team of luxuriant lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a small restaurant, style contains a changed manuscript font which floats over a team of elaborate lines and also dots.

Logo design for a software developer the layout attributes as well as iconic Huntington aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and disk management. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a bridge in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a few miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone regarding what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it represented something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the significance supporting a company logo is equally as important as how it brands the organization it represents.

Evolve logo style produced for a Huntingtoninterior designer, style function a collection of red circles that converge as well as replace the letter O in the center of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Huntington interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a professional who organizes, researches, coordinates, and manages such projects. Interior design is a multifaceted occupation that involves conceptual development, area planning, location inspections, programming, analysis, interacting with the stakeholders of a project, construction management, and execution of the design.

logo design done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Huntington, the characters for letter V and A in center of the word progressed have been modified to tie directly into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This Huntington logo design project was performed for a leadership coach that aids business professionals to become more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and profitability.

A Huntington business logo style featuring an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly understood the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, fishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell their pre-owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I created their Huntington logo design design along with an illustration which garners the attention of vehicles and sends an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo style MQ farms, this Huntington company logo design has a field incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo idea wasn’t really created for an Huntington area farm it was actually created for a products broker, and this logo design was one of many which fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was really to make a graphic that projects confidence, effectiveness, and luxury.

Huntington Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style attribute for outwardly dealing with arrowhead and the arrowheads indicate that it is a ruby form.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was entirely open to what type of logo design they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the opportunity to explore any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s challenging to hit a bullseye without understanding where exactly the target is. Fortunately, in this case, I hit a bullseye with the first try.

Logo design developed for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an elaborate script font that is reminiscent of a popular Huntington sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked directly with the owner to design a logo design that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it functioned on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon sign that hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
