POINTERS ON DETERMINING THE BEST LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency presents a money back guarantee try to keep in mind that they simply cannot refund the time you invest which is much more valuable than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Some design firms talk a good game but in the end a design agency can only be judged by the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their design portfolio doesn’t feature actual examples odds are they won’t be able to deliver a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s objective is to echo your personal vision for your company. If a logo designer is not focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how quickly they will get paid.

Jamestown LOGO DESIGN

For over 20 years ImageCo has been helping businesses of all kinds cultivate notable brands. We have undertaken branding work for farmers, colleges, diamond miners, wedding singers, cafes, retailers, and just about every other kind of business you can think of. What makes ImageCo unique compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every design as though it will be used as an electrical sign. Because of our sign first method our identity designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first technique insures that our logos are equally successful whether they are used in TV commercials or web apps, they are consistently recognizable, comprehended, and remembered no matter of size or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that truly sets ImageCo apart from other design companies that you may have come across in search results, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that each and every project we are retained to perform, we perform in-house. No matter the kind of project we take on, logo, website, trade show banners, or commercial sign, we do not, and never will farm-out our customer’s work to agencies located outside the US. Whenever you contact us at 1-855-IMAGECO the party that answers the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not a go-between that increases the cost of your design project and imposes the terms of how you and I do business.

CHARACTERISTICS OF A POWERFUL LOGO DESIGN

Every new Jamestown company realizes that they need a logo, but few start-ups fully understand the crucial role their company logo will play in their success, or why one business logo performs far better than another. A company logo has an instant and long-term impact on the growth of a company, select the right one and it will make the door swing and cash register ring, select the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a business. The logos featured in the ImageCo portfolio help Jamestown companies prosper, they are effective in any given scenario and the reason why they are so effective is because they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t need scrutiny, they can be understood in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from label to store signs a scalable business logo will be legible and just as emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any type of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the item or company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a company logo needs to be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

understanding branding

Brand – It is a verb and also a noun, it’s an identifying mark as well as the process of marking something to ensure that it could be identified, its genesis originates from the brand branded onto animals. Today a brand represents basically anything with a motive, regardless if it be earnings or government agencies, a brand is an innate aspect of specifying the worth of something in the public’s mind.

Branding – Is sort of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are all from the exact same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing have to do with making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition targeted at a specific audience, it’s goal is to create a mental image that the audience can identify with.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated by advertising and marketing and also identity design. When somebody mentions the names Ferrari or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of a vehicle with 4 wheels that can deliver us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of freedom, elegance, of something dangerous and sexy . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people purchase those products. Brand image is why people purchase specific brands, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can identify with.

Branding Companies – If you reflect on the beginning of the majority of branding firms you’ll find that they are frequently re-branded advertising companies. When someone claims they are in advertising and marketing the majority of people will likely have a preconceived notion about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or listened to are part of a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that specializes in a type of visual design which helps shape the public image of a company, a product or a company. Brand identity designers create logo designs, sign designs, product packaging, and collateral material such as business cards, stationery, and also brochures. Some identity designers also develop websites and user interfaces. The crucial role of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and also an emotional tone with the objective of affecting actions, end results as well as perceptions.

select signs/logos

Retro logo design of a bicycle created for a Jamestown coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This start-up coffee roaster and coffee bar were opening in an older section of the town and really wanted to visualize a retro tone without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled the two tasks by developing a trademark concept that features a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo design with a microscope slide and also germs designed for Jamestown clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science that studies the triggers and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which deals with the laboratory examination of samples of body tissue for diagnostic or forensic reasons.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I call to mind in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide into a business logo design.

Normally I attempt not to be extremely literal with a concept and to a degree, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, but it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that helps make it more intriguing, more attention grabbing and a lot more meaningful.

logo layout with a jumping green frog developed for a family members enjoyable center in Jamestown.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a very fun project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s additionally a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for health care providers, dental experts, and lawyers but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park that I have ever gotten the privilege to work on.

Given that the name of the company features the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to include a couple springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a much more dynamic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for promotion and marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I came up with was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo design including a group of birds, a hill, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - made for Jamestown traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather specialized field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture places or things but rather communicate emotional journeys through the images they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is representative of almost all professional photographers in that they frequently convey whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo by employing the positive space in the design to suggest one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Jamestown logo design but also to illustrate the depth to her art and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Jamestown logo design with a seagull utilized for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail company.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I genuinely relish and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I really felt good about, but the customer didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A however my client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his hatred for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a client I encourage all of them to share it with friends and family as well as with people that they don’t actually know so as to get unbiased viewpoints on the worthiness of a design. Fortunately, he discussed it with his whole family and they loved the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to incorporate every other seabird he could think of … in the end I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original design.

Logo designs are a weird animal in the design world given that the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their business logo comprehend how important a logo is for their organization so they are way more vested in the outcome. Every logo design project possesses it’s portion of hurdles, however the greatest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Jamestown publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most important part of a published book due to the fact that it is often the very first thing a person sees in the book store. For a publisher, it’s the optimal opportunity that they will likely ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that shop for actual books.

This 3 color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches customized to imply they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it looks like that in many instances 1 of the traits people often tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller start-up commuter/shuttle air service situated in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo design didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was undoubtedly a winner.

Jamestown logo design used for advertising and marketing and a label layout for Vintage Case features an archaic font style design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for musical instruments, that looked to be older cases. For this custom logo design I sought to come up with a logo that had a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web site to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different era.

Logo design produced for an orthodontist in Jamestown, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting via it to suggest steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging logo design projects considering that it seems that every single dentist includes a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to company advertising, if restaurants approached their advertising in the same way dental offices do every one of their logos would be a picture explaining anything they served, McDonalds would most likely have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind adding an illustration of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo but it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dentistry profession.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and inevitably I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 characters startled in height to represent a family with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation reached out to ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be depictive of the love that William McNally had for the people residing in his community. Many logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain pictures of a happy family, a cliche heavy approach to any logo design is to be far too literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and never hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly corny about it. The aim of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to explain how individuals should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo that describes itself won’t have the likelihood to be comprehended.

Logo layout created for a Jamestown hair design studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a business logo which conveyed an atmosphere of calmness and class for their new hair salon. I came up with a concept which didn’t go the obvious path of making merely a stylized orchid but rather created a business logo which implied a flower in the formation of a swirl blended into the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept along with the figure of a hummingbird hovering above the logo design itself. The obvious path in creating a logo design is usually the wrong path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the importance on the perception that they wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian equine logo style created for a steed ranch that focuses on reproducing Arabian show steeds.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo developed a distinct creative logo concept fashioned to epitomize the unique physical traits of the Arabian kind of horses. With a different head form and high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the most quite easily recognizable equine lineages in the whole world.

Las Cafe, A Jamestown Coffee shop logo layout a small restaurant, design consists of a customized manuscript font style which floats above a team of ornate lines and also dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a small restaurant, layout contains a customized manuscript typeface which hovers above a group of elaborate lines and dots.

Logo design for a software programmer the design attributes as well as iconic Jamestown element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and disk managing. The kernel attaches the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that operates as a bridge between the software and hardware.

The logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to describe anything to anyone with regards to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. Nevertheless it intimated something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance behind a business logo is just as important as how it serves the enterprise it represents.

Advance logo style produced for a Jamestowninterior developer, design feature a collection of red circles that intersect and also change the letter O in the middle of the logo design.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Jamestown interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is an individual who prepares, explores, coordinates, and oversees such ventures. Interior design is a diverse occupation that includes conceptual development, area planning, site inspections, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style provided for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Jamestown, the characters for letter V and also A in middle of words advanced have actually been modified to tie straight into the words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Jamestown logo design project was completed for a management coach that enables business leaders to become more effective at overseeing people, expectations, and productivity.

A Jamestown business logo style featuring a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly in the direction of the customer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year retailing goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all sorts of passions, a place to sell their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts.

I designed their Jamestown logo design design with an image that captures the interest of traffic and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I knew it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the image of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Jamestown company logo style has actually an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms brand idea wasn’t really produced for an Jamestown regional farm it was really devised for a commodities broker, and this logo was one of multiple which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The aim was to generate a graphic that projects self-assurance, effectiveness, and affluence.

Jamestown Logo design for a nonprofit, Transforming Factor Solutions - the logo style feature for externally encountering arrowhead as well as the arrowheads suggest that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what type of logo design that they preferred, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it grants a designer the flexibility to delve into any concept that comes to mind, bad in that it’s tricky to hit a bullseye in the absence of recognizing where the target is. Thankfully, in this instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st try.

Logo design created for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate script font style that is similar to a renowned Jamestown sports team logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted dozens of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the USA, from cupcake pastry shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a cool undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to create a logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
