Mariners Harbor Logo Design

Every new Mariners Harbor venture knows they are in need of a logo, but few entrepreneurs thoroughly are aware of the vital role their company logo can perform in their success, or why one logo functions better than another. A company logo has a critical and long-term impact on the financial success of a business, choose the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the life of a company. The logos included in the ImageCo portfolio help Mariners Harbor companies succeed, they are effective in any given situation and the main reason they are so effective is because they all have these 5 features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand contemplation, they can be comprehended in just a look.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to posters a scalable business logo will stay legible and equally emotive at virtually any size.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are personal, and they are suitable for the company they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo should be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Mariners Harbor coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually launching in an old section of the town and wished to visualize a nostalgic tone without appearing as monotonous or low energy. I achieved both of these jobs by developing a logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, high energy, and is a enduring business image.

medical logo design with a microscopic lense slide and germs made for Mariners Harbor clinical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which investigates the root causes and effects of diseases, mainly the field of healthcare which works with the clinical evaluation of specimens of human body tissue for diagnostic or forensic purposes.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind in which I was able to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Typically I try not to be overly literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it serves fairly literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancer to the name that makes it more captivating, more attention grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo design with a leaping green frog developed for a family members fun center in Mariners Harbor.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the norm of the kinds of projects which come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for doctors, dental offices, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever had the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the clear choice would have been to feature a some springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not actually resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a more dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and integrated him in to everything they used for advertising and marketing. I also think this is the only time that a logo I designed was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

digital photography logo featuring a group of birds, a hill, a path, a stream, and also a tree - created for Mariners Harbor traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a pretty niche field of photography and I believe it is a niche speciality because travel photographers tend not to shoot places or things but rather convey emotional experiences by means of the pictures they record. The thought behind this logo design was to make use of negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of the majority of good photographers in that they often convey entire stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with mere words. I made an effort to do something similar to this logo design by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Mariners Harbor logo design but also to show the depth to her art and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Mariners Harbor logo style with a seagull used for the letter A. Designed for a wireless retail business.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of custom logo design projects that I take on I really savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the idea of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A but the client, even though he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This man seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family didn’t share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage them to talk about it with colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get objective opinions on the worthiness of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they really liked the design and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his alternative of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Custom logo designs are a strange creature in the design world because the people that are inclined to hire an expert to design their logo realize how crucial a logo design is for their company so they are much more vested in the outcome. Every logo job possesses it’s share of hurdles, however the most significant challenge is identifying that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo layout with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Mariners Harbor publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow segment of real estate to work with, but it is the most essential part of a published book because it is in most cases the first thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publisher, it’s the absolute best opportunity that they will ever get to advertise their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design made for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo has 2 letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and go however it seems that in many occurrences one of the items individuals usually tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller startup commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their business logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to conferring a spirit of air travel and it was surely a winner.

Mariners Harbor logo layout utilized for marketing and also a tag layout for Vintage Situation includes an archaic font style style.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which appeared to be antique cases. For this custom logo design I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for anything from a web site to a label on brand new cases that looked like they were from a different point in time.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Mariners Harbor, design consist of an arc with lines converging via it to imply metal braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can be one of the most difficult logo design jobs considering that it appears that every single dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the very most cliche ridden fields when it comes to small business marketing, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the exact same way dental professionals do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would most likely include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind including a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I actually love doing dentistry logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies dentistry or a specific field of the field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that doesn’t have a solitary smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this particular design over to the customer the only smile that was apparent was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo created for a household not-for-profit, the logo includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to represent a family unit with in the design.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo that would be depictive of the devotion that William McNally had for the people in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain depictions of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal pertaining to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best designs are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the business or institution hopes to project.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which communicated that they were about families without being overtly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo to illustrate specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If you have to think about a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be immediately understood and a logo design that explains itself will never have the opportunity to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a hair layout workshop including a script font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a logo design which conveyed a spirit of tranquility and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept which did not go the obvious direction of making simply a stylized orchid but instead created a logo that implied a flower in the formation of a swirl incorporated into the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the logo design along with the figure of a hummingbird floating above the image itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is usually the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the orchid but alternately placed the main focus on the perception that they really wanted to forecast to their customers.

Logo style for a software designer the layout attributes and famous component of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the central part of an operating system (OS). Traditionally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task management, and hard drive management. The kernel connects the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection in between the software and computer hardware.

The logo design I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is situated a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the business owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a business logo is equally as important as how it brands the business it represents.

A logo layout including a fisherman in the center of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brand names like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year selling goods and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the founders of On the Fly realized the market place was prepared for an outdoor sporting store that operates as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to sell their pre-owned equipment to other sports enthusiasts. I tailored their Mariners Harbor logo dsign utilizing an image which garners the attention of vehicles and projects an image that evokes the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five mph I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and relaxed habitat.
Logo design MQ farms, this logo design has an area incorporated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms company logo concept wasn’t actually produced for an Mariners Harbor regional farm it was in reality devised for an investments broker, and this creative logo was one of a handful of which fell underneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was to generate a brand mark that projected self-confidence, success, and opulence.
Logo design made for the use of an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript font that is reminiscent of a famous sports group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted quite a lot of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a great undertaking in which I worked directly with the proprietor to develop a business logo that worked really well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the lighted signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
