Merrick Logo Design

Virtually every new Merrick business understands that they need a logo, however few entrepreneurs entirely comprehend the essential role their company logo will perform in their success, or why one logo works better than another. A company logo has an instant and long-term effect on the growth of a company, go with the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it can be a barrier and a hindrance for the longevity of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Merrick companies prosper, they are effective in any given circumstance and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logos don’t demand contemplation, they can be realized in just a glimpse.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will stay legible and just as emotive at virtually any scale.
  3. Versatility: logos that work on any sort of device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the business they stand for.
  5. Relevance: a logo design needs to be timeless and should feel relevant today, tomorrow, and 20 years from today.

Retro logo style of a bike created for a Merrick coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffee bar were actually opening up in an old part of the community and hoped to visualize a nostalgic vibe without coming across as boring or low energy. I achieved the two jobs by means of designing a logo concept that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is antiquated, higher energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo style with a microscopic lense slide and also germs developed for Merrick medical clinic.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline which examines the causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the branch of medicine that works with the clinical evaluation of specimens of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology logo design I came up with is the sole instance I call to mind where I was in a position to incorporate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a logo design.

Typically I try not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this design approaches the company it represents quite literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as a description of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more captivating, more interest grabbing and even more unforgettable.

logo design with a jumping environment-friendly frog created for a family members fun facility in Merrick.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the kinds of jobs which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for physicians, dental offices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the name of the business features the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to incorporate a couple springs into the design but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring doesn’t really resonate an environment of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, in the end I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a better lively high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my concept and named the frog Jax and included him in to everything they used for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I created was turned into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

digital photography logo including a group of birds, a hill, a route, a stream, and a tree - developed for Merrick traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a custom logo design job I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly niche field of photography and I think it is a niche profession because travel photographers don’t shoot locations or things but rather convey emotional journeys by means of the pictures they capture. The thought behind this logo concept was to utilize negative space to convey more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is quintessential of almost all professional photographers in that they oftentimes convey whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos frequently have an emotional resonance which can’t be conveyed with just words. I made an effort to do something much the same to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in hindsight, that my objective was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Merrick logo design but also to reveal the depth to her work and in the way that she views the world through the lens of her camera.

Merrick logo layout with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of business logo design projects that I take on I seriously relish and the Coastal Wireless assignment was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my excitement for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull form as a stroke in the letter A but my client, while he loved the concept, really did not care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his family members did not share his hatred for this particular type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to talk about it with friends and colleagues and family members as well as with people that they don’t even know so as to get neutral viewpoints on the value of a concept. Fortunately, he shared it with his family and they loved the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange creature in the design world given that the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo understand how crucial a logo is for their organization so they are way more vested in the end result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of obstacles, but the biggest obstacle is finding that sweet spot in a design that works really well at the job it’s needed to do in branding a business and also giving the customer the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo in the background, design for Merrick book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a slender piece of real estate to work with, but it really is the most crucial part of a published book given that it is ordinarily the primary thing a person views in the book store. With respect to a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever have to advertise their brand and get their logo design in front of the individuals that shop for actual books.

This three color design is vivid, picturesque and eye-catching and it leaves plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo designed for an airline in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with benches changed to suggest they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and go but it seems like that in many instances one of the items consumers tend to remember the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle air service based in LA and although I’m not certain it actually “took off” their logo didn’t ground them. The bookend A’s in their title lent itself well to imparting a sense of flight and it was undoubtedly a victory.

Merrick logo design utilized for advertising as well as a tag style for Vintage Situation features an old typeface layout.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be antique cases. For this brand design I tried to come up with a logo that had a fluid old-fashioned feel to it and could easily be used for every thing from a website to a label on brand new cases that seemed like they were from a different era.

Logo design created for an orthodontist in Merrick, design consist of an arc with lines converging with it to imply steel braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry business logos can be one of the most challenging logo jobs because it seems that every single dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental logo designs are one of the very most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business advertising, if dining establishments approached their advertising in the same way dental professionals do every one of their logos would definitely be a picture trying to explain anything they served, McDonalds would likely have an image of a potato and a cow.

I understand the thinking behind including an illustration of something mouth associated to a dentist’s logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care industry.

I really enjoy doing dental business logos simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a specific field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the stereotypical approach that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and inevitably I created a concept that does not have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still implied in the design. When I turned this concept over to the customer the only smile that was evident was the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design designed for a family members not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 personalities staggered in elevation to stand for a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the families in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain portrayals of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be far too literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve discovered that the best designs are the ones that are understated and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wishes to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name offered a distinct opportunity to do a logo which conveyed that they were about families without being overtly corny about it. The objective of a logo design is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe specifically how individuals ought to think or feel they don’t understand the objective of a logo. If you have to ponder a logo to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that explains itself will never have the chance to be comprehended.

Logo layout developed for a hair style studio featuring a script font a hummingbird and an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios needed a company logo that carried a spirit of peace and elegance for their new hair salon. I came up with a design which did not go the obvious route of creating merely a stylized orchid but rather designed a logo design which suggested a flower in the pattern of a swirl incorporated in to the letter O in the name and by putting attention on the concept with the figure of a hummingbird hovering over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a company logo is oftentimes the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but alternately placed the main focus on the feeling that they wanted to project to their clients.

Logo design for a software programmer the style attributes and also famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive management. The kernel links the system hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a connection between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to spell out anything to anyone about what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. But it meant something to the business owner of the company and in many cases the symbolism behind a company logo is just as important as how it brands the company it stands for.

Evolve logo style developed for a Merrick interior developer, design attribute a collection of red circles that intersect and also replace the letter O in the center of the logo style.

A logo style including a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the visitor.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With brands like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in over 7 billion a year offering goods and equipment to outdoor sporting enthusiasts the founders of On the Fly understood the market was ready for an outdoor sporting retailer that functions as a consignment business. Whether or not you are into boating, sportfishing or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a destination for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all kinds of interests, a spot to sell their used items to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Merrick business logo dsign along with an image that garners the interest of vehicles and projects an image that wakens the enthusiasm of the outdoors. With visitor traffic that averages forty five mph I knew it would take more than the typical logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and calm habitat.
Logo style MQ farms, this logo style has an area included right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms business logo concept wasn’t really produced for an Merrick regional farm it was actually devised for a products broker, and this particular trademark was one of multiple that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to make a brand mark that projected confidence, financial success, and prosperity.
Logo design designed for making use of a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font style that is similar to a well-known sporting activities group logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant logos and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the United States, from cupcake bake shops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the proprietor to design a logo design which worked very well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very legible from over a block away.
