Rochester Logo Design

Every new Rochester company knows they require a logo, yet few new business owners fully are aware of the key role their business logo will perform in their success, or precisely why one logo functions far better than another. A company logo has an immediate and long term influence on the prosperity of a company, choose the correct one and it can make the door swing and phone ring, go with the wrong one and it can be an obstacle and an impediment for the longevity of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Rochester businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason they are so effective is that they all have these five features in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs don’t require contemplation, they can be grasped in merely a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to signboards a scalable business logo will remain legible and just as emotive at virtually any dimension.
  3. Versatility: logos that operate on any sort of device, in print, on packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they are exclusive, and they are suitable for the enterprise they represent.
  5. Relevance: a logo must be ageless and will feel relevant today, tomorrow, and forty years from today.

Retro logo layout of a bike produced for a Rochester coffee cafe and a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This startup coffee roaster and coffeehouse were opening up in an old section of the area and wanted to visualize a vintage vibe without appearing as uninteresting or low energy. I fulfilled each of the jobs by means of developing a company logo concept that contains a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, high energy, and is a ageless business image.

medical logo layout with a microscope slide and also bacteria developed for Rochester medical center.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the science which researches the causes and outcomes of diseases, mainly the field of medicine that works with the clinical evaluation of samples of human body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology custom logo design I came up with is really the sole instance I call to mind in which I was able to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide right into a business logo design.

Generally I attempt not to be excessively literal with a design and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it represents rather literally, but it does it in a way that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an illustration of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more captivating, more attention grabbing and much more unforgettable.

logo layout with a jumping eco-friendly frog developed for a household enjoyable center in Rochester.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really fun project to work on, probably because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects that come my way, I’ve done dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental experts, and legal professionals but Cool Springz is without question the only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business has the word springz in its name the obvious choice would have been to feature a couple of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun destination to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo design project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to provide the logo a better dynamic high energy mood.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my design and named the frog Jax and incorporated him in to everything they used for marketing. I also believe this is the only time that a logo I created was made into a mascot when they had a staff member costume fabricated to look exactly like my frog design.

photography logo design featuring a flock of birds, a mountain, a route, a stream, as well as a tree - developed for Rochester traveling photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a fairly specialized field of photography and I believe it is a niche sector due to the fact that travel photographers tend not to capture locations or things but rather communicate emotional experiences through the photos they record. The thought behind this logo composition was to make use of negative space to communicate more than what was visible upon first glance, which I think is quintessential of the majority of professional photographers in that they often tell whole stories using their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a 1000 words but I think that some photographs convey a lot more than that because their photos often have an emotional resonance that can’t be conveyed with just words. I attempted to do something much the same to this logo design by utilizing the positive space in the design to say one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Rochester logo design but also to reveal the depth in her work and in the way that she sees the world through the lens of her camera.

Rochester logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail service.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The majority of logo design projects that I take on I truly savor and the Coastal Wireless project was one that I really felt good about, however the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull silhouette as a stroke in the letter A but my client, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular guy seriously despised seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, fortunately the rest of his family members didn’t share his contempt for this particular kind of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I encourage all of them to discuss it with colleagues and family members as well as with folks that they don’t actually know so as to get neutral opinions on the benefit of a concept. Fortunately, he talked about it with his whole family and they really liked the concept and were able to persuade him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to include every other seabird he could think of … eventually I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he proceeded with the original concept.

Logo designs are a strange animal in the design world because the people that tend to hire an expert to design their logo realize how essential a logo is for their organization so they are way more vested in the result. Every logo project possesses it’s portion of obstacles, but the biggest challenge is finding that sweet spot in a design that functions really well at the task it’s required to do in branding a business and also giving the client the image they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, style for Rochester book publisher

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a thin piece of real estate to work with, however it is the most important part of a printed book since it is usually the very first thing a person views in the book store. Concerning a publishing company, it’s the best opportunity they will likely ever have to promote their label and get their logo design in front of the people that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of area for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo design designed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has 2 letter A's with the bars customized to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines arrive and depart however it seems that in many cases 1 of the things people tend to recollect the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a young start-up commuter/shuttle air service located in LA and although I’m not sure it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their brand lent itself well to imparting a feeling of flight and it was definitely a winner.

Rochester logo layout made use of for advertising as well as a tag style for Vintage Instance features an antiquated font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in new cases for music instruments, that appeared to be older cases. For this custom logo concept I attempted to come up with a logo that offered a fluid vintage feel to it and could easily be utilized for every thing from a web page to an insignia on brand new cases that appeared like they were from a different generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Rochester, style consist of an arc with lines converging with it to indicate metal dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dental logo designs can easily be one of the most challenging logo projects due to the fact that it seems that each and every dentist involves a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dental business logos are one of the most cliche ridden professions when it comes to business branding, if restaurants approached their advertising in the very same way dentists do every one of their logos would be a picture trying to explain something they served, McDonalds would probably have a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating an image of something mouth associated to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be performed subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dentists logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dentistry logo designs simply because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dental treatment like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics offered such an opportunity and subsequently I created a concept that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t obvious, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was obvious was really the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo designed for a family not-for-profit, the logo design includes 4 characters staggered in height to represent a family with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation contacted ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be representative of the devotion that William McNally had for the families in his community. Most logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be overly literal about what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are understated and never hit the viewer on the head with what the company or organization wants to convey.

The McNally Foundation’s name provided a distinct opportunity to do a logo which communicated that they were about families without being openly tacky about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer makes an effort to use the logo design to describe specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the purpose of a logo. If people have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has fallen short, a logo needs to be instantly understood and a logo design that illustrates itself will never have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design created for a hair layout workshop featuring a manuscript font a hummingbird as well as an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios required a company logo that conveyed a sense of tranquility and connection for their new hair studio. I came up with a concept that did not go the obvious path of crafting just a stylized orchid but rather delivered a business logo that suggested an orchid in the pattern of a swirl featured in to the letter O in the title and by placing emphasis on the concept with the silhouette of a hummingbird floating above the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is generally the incorrect path and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the importance on the feeling that they really wanted to forecast to their patrons.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

Logo style for a software application programmer the style attributes and also famous element of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the principal component of an operating system (OS). Typically, the kernel is responsible for memory administration, process and task management, and drive operations. The kernel attaches the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that serves as a connection in between the software program and computer hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to identify anything to anyone regarding to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance behind a business logo is equally as important as how it serves the business it stands for.

A logo design featuring a fisherman in the middle of the name casting a fly towards the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies such as Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting lovers the owners of On the Fly knew the market was primed for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether or not you are into boating, fishing or mountain climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly provides a place for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of interests, a spot to market their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts. I designed their Rochester business logo dsign utilizing a graphic which captures the attention of traffic and projects an image that evokes the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get travelers to take notice, hence the picture of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.
Logo style MQ ranches, this logo design has a field integrated right into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms emblem concept wasn’t actually produced for an Rochester regional farm it was in reality created for a commodities broker, and this trademark was one of a handful of that fell under the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was actually to develop an identity that projected confidence, financial success, and wealth.
Logo developed for using an indicator for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is a luxuriant manuscript typeface that is reminiscent of a well-known sports team logo.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have created dozens of restaurant logo designs and business signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments|eateries} all over the US, from cupcake bakeshops to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I believe Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking in which I worked closely with the business owner to produce a business logo which worked extremely well and did a fantastic job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the illuminated sign which hung above their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
