POINTERS FOR DETERMINING THE RIGHT LOGO DESIGNER

BUDGET

A logo is an investment in both your time and your money so whenever a design agency offers a money back guarantee try to bear in mind that they simply cannot refund the amount of time you invest which is much more precious than your money is.

PORTFOLIO

Many designers talk a good game but in the end a designer can only be determined from the quality of their portfolio, if the work in their portfolio doesn’t feature real life examples odds are they will never be able to produce a premium logo design.

VISION

A logo’s aim is to be understood and be unforgettable, and it’s goal is to mirror your personal vision for your company. If a logo designer isn’t focused on realizing your vision, the thing they are actually focused on is how fast they can get paid.

Syracuse LOGO DESIGN

For over twenty years ImageCo has been helping entrepreneurs establish memorable brands. We’ve performed branding work for mechanics, educational institutions, heart surgeons, party planners, restaurants, retail stores, and practically every other kind of business concern you can envision. What makes us unique compared to typical graphic designers is that our background is rooted in the electrical sign industry so we undertake every brand identity project as though it will be used as an electrical sign. As a result of our sign first method our logo designs can, and have been employed in everything from fashion labels to neon signs. Our sign first approach ensures that our logo designs are just as successful whether they are used in TV commercials or website apps, they are consistently identifiable, understood, and remembered irrespective of scale or purpose.

American Made ★ Design

The thing that seriously sets ImageCo apart from many of the design agencies that you may have found on-line, companies like Thumbtack, Design Hill, Upwork, or Crowdspring is that absolutely every project we are brought on board to do, we perform ourselves. Regardless of the type of design project we accept, business logo, web page, trade show banners, or electric sign, we do not, and never will job out our client’s projects to agencies based outside the United States. Whenever you call us at 1-855-IMAGECO the person that picks up the telephone is ImageCo’s owner and designer, not an agent that marks up the cost of your design project and imposes the terms of how you and I do business.

QUALITIES OF A GREAT LOGO DESIGN

It’s likely that every new Syracuse company realizes that they need a logo, however few start ups fully understand the vital role their company logo will play in their becoming successful, or the reason that one logo design functions far better than another. A logo design has an immediate and long term impact on the financial success of a business, go with the correct one and it will make the door swing and phone ring, go with the incorrect one and it will be a barrier and a hindrance for the life of a company. The logos presented in the ImageCo portfolio help Syracuse businesses prosper, they are effective in any given situation and the reason why they are so effective is that they all have these five traits in common.
  1. Simplicity: simple logo designs do not need scrutiny, they can be grasped in just a glance.
  2. Scalability: from business cards to billboards a scalable logo design will be legible and equally emotive at any size.
  3. Versatility: logos which work on any device, in print, on product packaging, on a mobile phone, or on a ball-cap.
  4. Suitability: they are appropriate, they feel exclusive, and they are suitable for the product or organization they brand.
  5. Relevance: a logo design should be timeless and should feel equally relevant today, tomorrow, and twenty five years from now.

understand your brand

Brand – It’s a verb and also a noun, it is an identifying mark and also the process of noting something to ensure that it can be identified, its genesis originates from the mark burned onto animals. Today a brand represents pretty much anything with a motive, regardless of whether it be revenue or government agencies, a brand is an inherent aspect of defining the worth of a specific thing in the consumer’s mind.

Branding – Is kind of like advertising and marketing’s sexy sister, they are both from the very same family, the distinction being that advertising and marketing are about making a promise and branding’s goal is to deliver on that promise. Branding is also a strategic popularity competition aimed at a specific audience, it’s goal is to create a mental image that the target market can connect to.

Brand Image – An image planted and cultivated through advertising and marketing as well as identity design. When somebody says the brand names Ferrari or Corvette what we think of is their brand image, it’s an image that exists in our minds. That image isn’t an image of an automobile with 4 wheels that can carry us from point A to point B, the image we have (or at least I have) is of speed, elegance, of something dangerous and unique . That is brand image and brand image is what makes people want those brands. Brand image is why people purchase most things, from Nike to Adidas Chevy or Ford, Democrats or Republicans … all driven by brand images that people can relate to.

Branding Firms – If you look back at the history of a lot of branding companies you’ll discover that they are quite often re-branded marketing and advertising firms. When someone claims they are in advertising lots of people will likely have an idea about the type of work they do anything that can be seen, felt or heard belong to a brand identity.

Brand Identity Designers
– A brand identity designer is a graphic designer that focuses on a type of visual design that helps form the public image of a firm, a product or an institution. Brand identity designers create logo designs, signage designs, product packaging, as well as collateral products such as cards, stationery, as well as pamphlets. Some identity designers also build sites and user interfaces. The crucial duty of a brand identity designer is to establish the visual cues and a psychological tone with the goal of affecting activities, end results and understandings.

select signs/logos

Retro logo layout of a bicycle created for a Syracuse coffee cafe as well as a coffee roaster.

Ferry Street Coffee Company | Logo Design | Retail Branding

This budding coffee roaster and coffee shop were actually opening in an old part of the city and wanted to project a nostalgic feel without appearing as boring or low energy. I accomplished each of the tasks by creating a sign design that uses a man on a high wheel bicycle (aka The Penny Farthing), it is old-fashioned, higher energy, and is a classic business image.

clinical logo style with a microscopic lense slide as well as germs developed for Syracuse clinical facility.

Mid-Valley Pathology | Logo Design

Pathology is the scientific discipline that researches the root causes and outcomes of diseases, especially the field of healthcare which works with the laboratory evaluation of samplings of body cellular material for diagnostic or forensic intents.

The Mid-Valley Pathology brand I came up with is really the only instance I recall in which I was in a position to integrate a bacteria-laden microscope slide within a business logo design.

Usually I try not to be excessively literal with a concept and to a point, this specific design approaches the company it serves quite literally, yet it does it in a fashion that integrates the slide as part of the name so it doesn’t serve so much as an explanation of what Mid-Valley Pathology does so much as acts as an enhancement to the name that makes it more appealing, more focus grabbing and more memorable.

logo style with a leaping environment-friendly frog designed for a household enjoyable facility in Syracuse.

Cool Springz | Logo Design | Retail Branding

The Cool Springz Trampoline Park was a really cool project to work on, most likely because a trampoline park is all about fun. It’s also a project that is way out of the usual of the types of projects which come my way, I’ve produced dozens of logo designs for medical professionals, dental practices, and attorneys but Cool Springz is without question the one and only trampoline park which I have actually ever gotten the opportunity to work on.

Given that the full name of the business features the word springz in its name the apparent choice would have been to include a handful of springs into the concept but Cool Springz is a fun location to go and spring does not really resonate an atmosphere of fun does it. My thought process on this logo project went from springs (boring) to what jumps around, kangaroos … but kangaroos are cute and this place is cool, eventually I landed on a green tree frog and a dimensional treatment of the title itself to give the logo a much more enthusiastic high energy feel.

In the end, Cool Springz ended up loving my brainchild and named the frog Jax and featured him in to everything they utilized for marketing and advertising. I also think this is the only time that a logo I did was made into a mascot when they had an employee costume fashioned to look just like my frog design.

photography logo design including a group of birds, a mountain, a trail, a stream, and also a tree - made for Syracuse travel digital photographer.

Travel Don’t Wander | Logo Design | Website Design

Travel Don’t Wander was a logo design project I took on for a travel photographer, which is a rather niche field of photography and I think it is a niche speciality due to the fact that travel photographers don’t capture places or things but instead convey emotional journeys through the pictures they capture. The idea behind this logo composition was to utilize negative space to project more than what was visible upon first view, which I think is representative of almost all good photographers in that they often tell whole stories through their photography.

It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words but I think that some photographs convey considerably more than that because their photos often have an emotional fullness that can’t be conveyed with just words. I tried to do something similar to this logo by making use of the positive space in the design to voice one thing and then at the same time using the negative space to expand upon what was communicated through the first impression. I think, in looking back, that my goal was to both brand this photographer with a memorable  Syracuse logo but also to illustrate the depth in her art and in the way that she perceives the world through the lens of her camera.

Syracuse logo style with a seagull made use of for the letter A. Designed for a cordless retail organisation.

Coastal Wireless | Logo Design

The bulk of business logo design jobs that I take on I honestly savor and the Coastal Wireless design was one that I certainly felt good about, but the client didn’t quite share my enthusiasm for it. I felt really good about the concept of using the seagull shape as a stroke in the character A however the customer, while he loved the concept, didn’t care for my choice of birds. This particular man truly disliked seagulls, which he referred to as the “rats of the sky”, luckily the rest of his friends and family didn’t share his hatred for this specific type of sea bird.

When I turn a concept over to a customer I urge them to discuss it with friends and colleagues and family as well as with individuals that they don’t actually know so as to get objective judgements on the value of a design. Fortunately, he shared it with his family members and they really liked the design and were able to reason with him and get him to sign off on it, but not before he worked me over to insert every other seabird he could think of … ultimately I was able to talk him out of his preference of a pelican and he went with the original concept.

Logos are a strange animal in the design world given that the people that have a tendency to hire a professional to create their business logo comprehend how essential a logo is for their company so they are much more vested in the result. Every logo design job possesses it’s allotment of difficulties, however the biggest obstacle is identifying that sweet spot in a design that operates really well at the job it’s required to do in branding a company and also giving the client the identity they see for themselves.

a red panda logo style with bamboo behind-the-scenes, design for Syracuse publication author

Red Panda Publishers | Logo Design

The book spine is a narrow piece of real estate to work with, nevertheless it is the most essential part of a published book because it is in most cases the primary thing a person views in the bookstore. With regard to a publisher, it’s the opportunity that they will ever have to spotlight their label and get their logo design in front of the men and women that buy actual books.

This three color design is vibrant, colorful and eye-catching and it gives plenty of room for the title and the author’s name.

Air LA logo developed for an airline company in Los Angeles, the logo design has two letter A's with the bars modified to indicate they are wings.

Air LA | Logo Design

Airlines come and depart nevertheless it seems that in many occurrences one of the traits people tend to recall the most are their logos. The Air LA logo design was done for a smaller fledgling commuter/shuttle airline located in LA and while I’m not certain it really “took off” their business logo didn’t slow them. The bookend A’s in their name lent itself well to conferring a sense of air travel and it was definitely a winner.

Syracuse logo layout used for marketing and a label layout for Vintage Instance features an old font design.

Vintage Case | Logo Design

Vintage case specialized in brand new cases for music instruments, which looked to be much older cases. For this business logo concept I tried to come up with a logo that provided a fluid retro feel to it and could easily be used for everything from a web page to a label on brand new cases that appeared like they were from another generation.

Logo developed for an orthodontist in Syracuse, layout consist of an arc with lines intersecting with it to imply steel dental braces.

Kujak Orthodontics | Logo Design | Sign Design

Dentistry logo designs can be one of the most difficult logo jobs because it appears that every dentist incorporates a smile, a tooth, a smiling tooth, or a toothy smile in their design. Dentistry business logos are one of the most cliche ridden careers when it comes to business advertising, if restaurants approached their branding in the same way dental practices do every one of their logo designs would definitely be a picture explaining something they served, McDonalds would probably include a picture of a potato and a cow.

I recognize the thinking behind incorporating a likeness of something mouth related to a dentist’s company logo nevertheless it has to be done subtly or it will just look like every other clipart dental professionals logo that litter the branding landscape of the dental care profession.

I really love doing dental business logos because it challenges me to come up with a design that implies the field of dentistry or a particular field of dentistry like orthodontics without resorting to the clichéd solution that so many dentists settle on.

Kujak Orthodontics provided such an opportunity and ultimately I created a design that doesn’t have a single smile or a tooth in it, but even though they aren’t overt, they are still suggested in the concept. When I turned this design over to the client the only smile that was evident was actually the smile on Dr. Kujak’s face.

William McNally logo design made for a household nonprofit, the logo features 4 personalities staggered in elevation to stand for a family unit with in the style.

William McNally | Logo Design | Branding

The William McNally Family Foundation asked ImageCo to help them come up with a custom logo design that would be illustrative of the love that William McNally had for the residents in his community. The majority of logos with the name “family” in them tend to contain images of a happy family, a cliche heavy strategy to any logo design is to be very literal with regards to what the name says or the industry it represents. I’ve found that the best concepts are the ones that are downplayed and don’t hit the viewer on the head with what the company or institution wants to communicate.

The McNally Foundation’s name presented a unique opportunity to do a custom logo design which conveyed that they were about families without being openly cheesy about it. The goal of a logo is to be remembered and recognized and if the designer tries to use the logo design to describe specifically how people should think or feel they don’t understand the goal of a logo. If viewers have to consider a logo design to understand what it means, it has failed, a logo needs to be immediately comprehended and a logo design that explains itself won’t have the likelihood to be understood.

Logo design developed for a Syracuse hair style studio including a script font a hummingbird and also an indicated orchid for the letter O.

Wild Orchid Studio | Logo Design Project

Wild Orchid Studios desired a logo design that carried a spirit of peace and elegance for their new hair salon. I created a concept which did not go the obvious path of crafting just a stylized orchid but instead created a company logo which implied an orchid in the pattern of a swirl integrated in to the letter O in the title and by putting emphasis on the logo design with the figure of a hummingbird floating over the logo itself. The obvious path in designing a logo is oftentimes the wrong route and in this case, the design ended up not being about the flower but instead placed the attention on the perception that they really wanted to transmit to their customers.

Arabian equine logo style created for a steed cattle ranch that concentrates on reproducing Arabian program equines.

Dazzo Arabians | Logo Design

ImageCo designed a one-of-a-kind custom logo design tailored to display the unique physical traits of the Arabian breed of horses. By having an identifiable head form and very high tail posture, the Arabian is one of the highly quite easily recognizable horse types in the entire world.

Las Cafe, A Syracuse Coffee shop logo design a small dining establishment, design contains a changed manuscript typeface which floats above a team of luxuriant lines and dots.

Las Cafe | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

Las Coffee shop logo layout a little dining establishment, style contains a modified script font which hovers above a team of luxuriant lines as well as dots.

Logo style for a software developer the style attributes and legendary Syracuse aspect of a bridge to the left of the name.

Smart Kernels | Logo Design

A kernel is the key part of an operating system (OS). Generally, the kernel is responsible for memory management, process and task control, and drive managing. The kernel links the computer hardware to the application software. In other words a kernel is {essentially|quite literally a bridge that functions as a bridge in between the software program and hardware.

The business logo I came up with for Smart Kernels was based on an actual bridge that is located a couple of miles from the business offices of Smart kernels. It’s a logo design that doesn’t attempt to point out anything to anyone pertaining to what business they are in or how it relates to their specific location. However it intimated something to the owner of the business and in quite a few cases the substance supporting a logo is equally as important as how it brands the enterprise it represents.

Progress logo style created for a Syracuseindoor designer, style function a series of red circles that converge and also change the letter O in the middle of the logo layout.

Evolv Interior Design | Logo Design | Branding

Evolv Design is a Syracuse interior design company and this logo design is representational of the work that an interior designer does in. An interior designer is a person who prepares, explores, coordinates, and oversees such tasks. Interior design is a diverse occupation that consists of conceptual development, space planning, location examinations, programming, investigation, corresponding with the stakeholders of a project, building and construction supervision, and implementation of the design.

logo style done for Advanced Leadership Solutions in Syracuse, the personalities for letter V and also A in middle of the word progressed have actually been changed to connect directly right into words listed below.

Advanced Leadership Solutions | Logo Design | Website Design

This particular Syracuse logo design job was completed for a leadership consultant that aids business professionals to become more effective at supervising people, expectations, and profitability.

A Syracuse business logo style including an angler in the middle of the name casting a fly in the direction of the viewer.

On The Fly | Logo Design | Retail Branding

With companies like Cabelas and Bass Pros raking in more than 7 billion a year retailing supplies and equipment to outdoor sporting fans the owners of On the Fly realized the market was prepared for an outdoor sporting merchant that operates as a consignment company. Whether you are into boating, angling or rock climbing, or even hunting, On the Fly presents a venue for outdoor sports enthusiasts with all types of passions, a spot to sell off their previously owned products to other sports enthusiasts.

I tailored their Syracuse logo design using an illustration which seizes the interest of traffic and projects an image that arouses the passion of the outdoors. With traffic that averages forty five miles per hour I realized it would take more than the average logo/sign to get commuters to take notice, hence the graphic of a fly fisherman in his natural and tranquil habitat.

Logo design MQ ranches, this Syracuse company logo style has actually a field integrated into the letter Q.

MQ Farms | Logo Design | Branding

The MQ farms logo idea wasn’t actually produced for an Syracuse regional farm it was really devised for a commodities broker, and this particular creative logo was one of a handful of which fell beneath the MQ umbrella … MQ commodities was one, MQ trading was another. The end goal was really to design a graphic that projected confidence, financial success, and luxury.

Syracuse Logo design for a nonprofit, Turning Factor Solutions - the logo layout attribute for ostensibly encountering arrow as well as the arrowheads imply that it is a ruby shape.

Turning Point Foundation | Logo Design

The Turning Point Foundation was completely open to what kind of logo design that they wanted, this can be a good thing or a bad thing. Good in that it offers a designer the freedom to explore any idea that comes to mind, bad in that it’s hard to hit a bullseye without recognizing where the target is. Luckily, in this particular instance, I struck a bullseye with the 1st shot.

Logo design developed for using a sign for the dining establishment (Brewgrrs), it is an ornate manuscript font that is reminiscent of a famous Syracuse sporting activities group logo design.

Brewgrrs Restaurant | Logo Design | Restaurant Branding

I have crafted loads of restaurant logos and establishment signs for restaurants, diners, sports bars, night clubs, dining establishments, and eateries all over the US, from cupcake bakeries to pizza parlors and oyster bars, out of all of them I think Brewgrrs was my absolute favorite. Brewgrrs was a neat undertaking where I worked closely with the owner to create a business logo that worked very well and did a great job to brand them, it worked on everything on everything from coasters, and tap handles all the way to the neon signage which hung over their doors, and was highly visible and very easy to read from over a block away.
